Oh no, we'd better take Tolkien, C.S. Lewis and Dr Seuss off the list too! In all seriousness though, children's literature requires just as much skill to write as adult's literature.
Of course it takes skill, but that doesn't make Rowling the 19th best author of all-time. She's objectively a mediocre author. That's not a bad thing. She's obviously had absurd success and is probably more than happy with her career, but you can't tell me with a straight face that she's a better author than Chinua Achebe, to pick one of a thousand obvious examples.
I can't take this quiz seriously when Mary Shelley isn't included! She invented the science fiction genre and was so ahead of her time. I have my degree in English literature and it makes me balk that she isn't included in this list, especially over the likes of Seuss and Rowling. At least the Brontë's were included for once.
Thank you for the quizz !
