I like the idea of this quiz but it is horribly implemented. Were these their highest grossing films or is it subjective? I think Natalie Portman is infinitely more well known in the Star Wars franchise than she is in Black Swan. Also you should accept James Bond as an answer for Sean Connery because he was in seven of those films and not just Goldfinger.

Quizmaster - this needs a better explanation in the instructions. I get that these are probably the movies that are highest-guessed from the individual filmography quizzes here on Jetpunk, but it's far from obvious with the explanation that's currently up there. Also, another minute or two on the timer would be very helpful. It felt very rushed, and I found myself skipping people accidentally near the end, trying to get to the end of the list.

You really should accept James Bond and not just Goldfinger, as you can see, it's the least guessed answer, yet everyone knows Sean Connery was famous for Bond films. I did actually try Dr No as it was his first one.

Agree wholeheartedly on Sean Penn's Fast Times at Ridgemont High. The problem is the "recency effect." People think of Milk because it's current. Also Harrison Ford's is maybe his most popular, but I guessed Han Solo first. Nicholas Cage will always make me think of Raising Arizona--probably his best movie still--perhaps Gone in 60 Seconds. Kevin Costner? Waterworld?! That's awful! Should be Dances with Wolves. Most of these are okay, and I realize the premise of the quiz, but the JetPunk quiz answers are not the best judge of most memorable role. Some of these answers were just horrible!

Agree with sf49ers (and I like the term s/he used) - the "recency effect" tends to skew results to more recent films, even if older ones were more successful and/or more widely known back when they were current.

In the case of Kevin Costner, people probably split between Dances with Wolves and Field of Dreams being his most favored movies, (with a few votes for Bull Durham and Tin Cup thrown in) but unfortunately so many people thought Waterworld was such a turkey that is the one many people remember. (Although, strangely enough, I didn't think it was horrible, it just didn't live up to the hype.) I agree, the "recency effect" is in play. As Marie Dressler said, "You're only as good as your last picture."

Regarding Sean Penn, I've never even heard of Fast Times at Ridgemont High, let alone what it's about and who was in it. Even imdb doesn't feature that film in his best known roles. Mystic River and especially Milk are the top listings, the latter being the one he was Oscar-nominated for. And it's a way shorter title!

Couldn't agree more with this thread. Epic fail (JetPunk users, not QM) on Costner. Cage is hard to understand. Same with Penn. I loved Eyes Wide Shut (Kubrick's swan song), but I'm surprised her role as Catwoman in Batman Forever isn't more commonly associated with Kidman.

@Yanni47 - It's probably a factor of a person's age. Fast Times was iconic if you were in high school in the 1980's. Somebody order a pizza?

I am not surprised that Nicole Kidman's role as Catwoman did not make the cut, mostly because she did not play the role of Catwoman in Batman Forever. Not only did she not play the role of Catwoman in Batman Forever, no one did, Catwoman was in Batman Returns, portrayed by Michelle Pfeiffer. Cage I can understand, I went from Con Air immediately to National Treasure. Penn I can understand as well, Milk is a more widely accepted film, it was also met with more critical acclaim, throw in the fact that it is newer, and it's completely understandable.

Cool idea for a quiz but, yeah, the title is definitely a bit misleading. The description is helpful. It's really the movies that most often come to mind.. you could say... Movies Most Associated with These Actors or Actors and Their Most Remembered Role. Because some of these films were not popular at all. Eyes Wide Shut and Waterworld were these actor's most notorious roles but far from their most popular ones. Waterworld especially was notorious for being a giant career-ending turd that nobody went to see. Eyes Wide Shut sticks out for the controversey, Kubrick's death, and Kidman's many nude scenes in the film. In other cases the films that are guessed most are simply the most recent. Like Portman in Black Swan. That wasn't nearly as big as The Phantom Menace... but it's more recent.

I giggle a little when I imagine Kevin Costner lying in bed late at night, staring at the ceiling, and thinking to himself that no matter what he does, or what hit movies he makes before his time is up, his epitaph in the minds of future generations will be 'the guy who was in Waterworld.'

Kinda surprised at all the kibitzing here, even though it's clear that QM updated the title/description from its first incarnation. It's pretty simple: read the description of the quiz when you start!!

People complaining about Waterworld and Ace Ventura and whatever you think was too subjective just need to understand that it's based on actual quizzes from this very site. At least when you think it isn't making sense, look up at the description to double check the methodology!

please accept james bond as an answer for sean connery. he has been in many films like entrapment and hunt for the red October, but if he is most well known for playing james bond then it should be acceptable. especially if Indiana jones is an acceptable answer for raiders of the lost ark. and also I agree star wars is a lot more better known for Natalie portman than black swan
