Crayola Crayon Colors Quiz

Type the name of a Crayola crayon color, circa 1970. The new colors, like Razzmatazz Jazzy Grape or whatever, are really stupid so we'll ignore those.

I'm surprised no-one has mentioned one of the most (in)famous Crayola colors circa 1970....the sort of orangey pale pink that they called "flesh".

Yeah.. I kept typing flesh at least three times. what replaced it?

I remember having that one. We apparently had old boxes. The name was changed to peach in 1962.

I read that on the Crayola site, but it almost seemed like revisionist history. The color flesh appeared in my crayon boxes after 1962 and it wasn't named peach, either. Maybe our stores kept selling us old boxes they had in storage.

I think they might have changed it so they don't offend black people by calling it flesh when on the outside theirs is a different color.

Erin S, at the risk of sounding like your fifth grade math teacher, that's the difference between mean and median. Most people scored below 21, and that's why you got 56%, but a few people knew them all (or cheated), and that's why the mean is 22.

Dear Crayola, you are turning little children into nonsense spewing, tiny adults. These colors are outrageous. When i was little we just said "Pass me the brown please." Not "May you allow me to use that Raw Umber." Get a grip! Colors should be the ones we see in the rainbow and not what some idiot "genius" crayon manufacturer thinks up because his or hers brain has gone fuzzy from smelling to many crayons. That is my honest opinion on today's so called "colors"! Sincerely, RANDOM PERSON WHO TOOK THIS QUIZ Not a bad quiz though, just a teensy bit frustrating if you haven't noticed. Thanks, and adios

Wow, this might be my favorite quiz ever. Got 27. Can't believe I remembered Cadet Blue. Yellow Orange was always my favorite. Burnt Sienna too. I can't believe though that I forgot Raw Umber (I hated that crayon LOL). The orange-red/red-orange thing always drove me nutty so I had those down. Can't believe I missed Spring Green which we always used. Forgot Gold/Silver which I never used cause they were smudgy. I typed Lavendar in with the wrong spelling. Forgot Brick Red and Goldenrod too. I must be getting old ! Funny how I had such affection for certain crayons and just hated others. LOL One thing, I think this quiz would have benefitted from maybe 6 or 7 minute time

Most of us in my first grade were too poor to have anything larger than the 8 box. One student whose father was a doctor always showed up with the 64 (and later the 72) box and we were all so jealous. I remember one year he showed off the crayon sharpener built right into his box and we all wanted to smack him silly. (But of course, being polite children back then, we smiled and told him how nice it was.) Years later when I became a parent and my kids begged for the giant box they got just what was on the school list, usually 16 crayons.

That was a really fun quiz. I got 36/64, but once I saw all the answers, I remembered almost all the colors. I don't remember thistle at all, and I think mulberry and indian red may also have been phased out by the time I got my crayons in the '90s. My two favorites, however, are not in this group: cerulean and scarlet.

I used to know all these colors pretty well when I was a kid... now I got 36. I remember getting a box of 250 colors or something like that... bigger than the standard 64 I was so excited. I also remember in the 80s when they came out with all the "flourescent" colors like hot pink that were super trendy at the time.

Yes me too! Finally dared to click on it and went *pheeeew*. Only to realise that "orange red" and "red orange" are colours but just "pink" isn't? -- Got 24/64 and the only Crayola I've seen was the box of 15 we had at school. We used up the sky blue from everyone's boxes with some big project, so that was the only colour it helped me with too.

Cause that is what they were called. And looking at the comments apparently it was a big cultural thing (in the us?)

I think we did have crayons in my country but afaik they didnt have specific names and noone really used them anyway, everyone used colored pencils or markers. (I can only remembering using them once in an artproject in the 6th grade (last class of elementary/primary school) with a type of colored ink (not sure if there is a name for it in english, we called it ecoline (not as in line, but a(ej)-ko-lean-uh)

Why are "Orange Red" and "Red Orange" or "Yellow Orange" and "Orange Yellow" or "Green Yellow" and Yellow Green," etc different colors? It shouldn't matter how they are arranged and they definitely shouldn't be different shades if they are the same mixture of colors.
