The Pentagon is in Arlington, Virginia. I don't think DC was touched. There's speculation that the Senate building in DC may have been due to be the target of the 4th plane, but no-one really knows.

It could've been the White House too.

Yup, the US Capital or the White House

Probably the Capitol. Doesn't really matter to Jerry's point, though. All of these buildings are in Washington. and though, yes, technically the Pentagon is in Arlington... it's literally right across the Potomac. It's not incorrect to say that it is in Washington since it is well within the limits of the metro area.

The question was what cities were attacked. DC was not attacked. It may have been targeted, but it was not attacked. I live here. There's a difference. It'd be like saying they attacked Hoboken.

I lived there, too. Worked at the hospital (in Virginia) that was first to send support to the Pentagon. It's in the DC area.

Since the 9/11 attacks, an air force memorial has been built near the Pentagon. If it were there during the attack, the plane would have crashed directly into it. Also that same plane skimmed the roof of a nearby hotel.

I mean, the arlington county fire department has a memorial from the attacks, the metro operators all say that the pentagon is "the first step in the commonwealth of virginia", the ships named after the attacks are the Somerset, New York, and Arlington, so I don't think it's thaaaaaaaat sticklerish.

If I were being a stickler I would point out that Arlington technically isn't a city, but a county. :-)

True, but it really "ought" to be an independent city - like most of the other bigger cities in Virginia.

Nut job was what I tried first too. I think it should be accepted. After all, everything I've seen that "proves" it was a government conspiracy, and that no planes hit the towers, has been pure lunacy.

Those are David Icke's followers. Though of course there is some cross-over. Many truthers cling to theories about New World Order, Illuminati, Free Masonry, Elders of Zion... and Icke is a noted anti-semite whose theories about interdimensional time-traveling lizard people sound a lot like Jewish Banking conspiracies except replace Jews with lizard people and of course they're all nuts.

Yes. We must always accept the story given to us, and not question anything that ever happens, even if there are blatant discrepancies.

From the OED: "conspiracy: A combination of persons for an evil or unlawful purpose; an agreement between two or more persons to do something criminal, illegal, or reprehensible." How does that not fit the 19 hijackers?

This is true. 9/11 actually was a conspiracy. A conspiracy by Muslim jihadists

Good point. "US Government" should probably be added to the wording of the clue to indicate the conspiracy theorist point of view.

It is a violation of the Geneva Conventions, which the US pledged to abide by through international treaty. See Convention III Article 13 - Humane treatment of prisoners Likewise, prisoners of war must at all times be protected, particularly against acts of violence or intimidation and against insults and public curiosity. See article VII of the US Constitution: ...This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof; and all Treaties made, or which shall be made, under the Authority of the United States, shall be the supreme Law of the Land...

My main question was why would a 9/11 quiz have a question about waterboarding. I get that some of these questions were based on things that happened in the aftermath, but this one doesn't fit as well as the others. IMO.

I think I agree with this. I mean, you could put in questions about Khalid Sheikh Mohamed, Mohammed Atta, the Hamburg Cell, the other airline affected (American), WTC 7, Shanksville... even My Pet Goat... all of those questions would have more to do with 9/11 than waterboarding

At first I was not sure what to think of a quiz on this topic, but now that i have taken it, I really feel it did me a great service. I passed today recalling 9/11 but not taking it in very deeply, but taking this quiz, the hair stood up on the back of my neck as I remembered that day. I think this was very respectfully handled and I found it tasteful. Well done and thank you.

Overall very good quiz but I have to suggest amending a few errors. - Describing waterboarding as illegal is subjective, I'd recommend removing it in order to maintain objectivity. - Calling Iraq "totally unrelated" is debatable, and even if it was, what's it doing in this quiz then. Otherwise what a great quiz.

The "drowning torture" used by the U.S. wasn't illegal under either U.S. or U.N. law... Whether or not you agree that it was moral is a question under debate, but it wasn't illegal
