Kareem
Was L.A. before he was traded to L.A.
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was born Lew Alcindor (L.A.) and that was his name (until late 1971), before he was traded to the L.A. Lakers in 1975, in exchange for Brian Winters (and others), the first head coach of the NBA expansion team Vancouver Grizzlies.
Khris
He married Kim Kardashian... and he had 4,314 NBA career rebounds... not including his divorce from Kim Kardashian
Khris played for nine NBA teams over 13 years. He had career highs in six categories (games started, minutes played, rebounds, steals, blocks, and points per game) in the season (2010/11) he got married (and divorced) to (and from) Kim Kardashian.
Kawhi
He won his second Finals MVP before leaving that team to play for a franchise that has never won an NBA championship.
Kawhi won the 2019 Finals MVP with the Toronto Raptors and then signed (as a free agent) the next season with the Los Angeles Clippers.
Kenny
Was the #2 overall pick in 1991, with the idea of feeding the ball to the previous year's #1 overall pick Derrick Coleman.
Kenny was chosen at #2 by the New Jersey Nets, after the selection of Larry Johnson at #1 by the Charlotte Hornets.
Karl
He shared his last name with a Jeff, as well as the 1983 NBA Finals MVP award winner, neither of whom are related to Karl.
Jeff and Moses Malone were teammates on the Washington Bullets from 1986 to 1988.
Karl-Anthony
As a member of the NBA, he has traveled to many cities... but they're usually considered much bigger than his last name.
K.A.T. was the #1 overall pick of the 2015 NBA draft, by the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Keegan
Keegan shares his last name with the lead actor in that movie we all love to watch on February 2nd each year.
Bill Murray starred as Phil Connors in the 1992 movie "Groundhog Day". Keegan is young and has already made a name for himself by making the NBA All-Rookie First team for 2023.
Kevin
This two-time Sixth Man Of The Year award winner (who also won three NBA championships) bled Celtic green... so much so, he orchestrated the trade of another Kevin to the Celtics to help them win their latest (17th) NBA championship.
When Kevin McHale was the VP of Basketball Operations for the Minnesota Timberwolves, he selected Kevin Garnett with the 5th overall pick in 1995. In 2007, he traded Kevin Garnett to the Celtics and they won their 17th NBA title in 2008.
Kelly
This Toronto, Canada born, headband-wearing center played for the team that lost to the 2020 NBA Champions, the Los Angeles Lakers.
Kelly Olynyk, who went to high school in Kamloops, BC, Canada (near the west coast), played for the east coast team Miami Heat during the pandemic affected season of 2019/20.
Kelvin
The #4 overall pick of 1983, Kelvin made the NBA All-Rookie First Team.
Kelvin was the runner-up (by just one vote) to earn Rookie Of The Year for the 1980/81 season. It went to Darrell Griffith instead.
Kemba
Kemba won the NBA Sportsmanship Award for 2017 an 2018 and he shares his last name with a famous Texas Ranger played by Chuck Norris.
"Walker, Texas Ranger" (the TV show) ran for nine seasons... while Kemba Walker finally made it to a Texas NBA team (the Dallas Mavericks) where he played for nine games, before heading to France to play for Monaco.
Kendall
Kendall made the NBA All-Rookie First Team of 1991, led the league in Steals in 1999, and he played with one of the Kennys on this quiz.
Kendall Gill was traded, in 1996, along with another K player (Khalid Reeves) from the Charlotte Hornets to the New Jersey Nets for another K player (Kenny Anderson).
Keith
He was the NBA's #2 overall pick behind one of the Top 10 players in NBA history.
Keith was selected by the New Jersey Nets in 1997, just behind the #1 pick of Tim Duncan (who scored over 25,000 points and had over 15,000 rebounds and over 3,000 blocks... all with the same team (San Antonio Spurs).
Khalid
Khalid (drafted in 1994) shares his last name with the first ever draft pick (at #6 overall) of the following year's expansion team Vancouver Grizzlies.
"Big Country" Bryant Reeves came down from a rebound at the end of the first half of Jason Kidd's first game (December 28, 1996) as a Phoenix Sun, sending Jason to the injured list.
Kevin
A Most Improved Player award winner in 1988, Kevin was selected to two NBA All Star games, both during seasons before the two seasons in which he went on to represent the Portland Trailblazers in the NBA Finals.
Kevin was selected to the 1989 and the 1991 NBA All Star Western Conference teams, yet it was in 1990 and 1992 that he played in the NBA Finals, first losing to the Detroit Pistons, then to the Chicago Bulls.
Kenneth
Known as the "Manimal", despite being the 22nd overall draft pick (taken by the Denver Nuggets) during the 2011 NBA draft, Kenneth went on to be part of the 2012 NBA All-Rookie First Team.
There were actually seven players (not just five) that made up the 2012 NBA All-Rookie First Team. Klay Thompson and Kawhi Leonard tied for one of the guard positions and Iman Shumpert and Brandon Knight tied for the other guard position.
Kent
Kent was the #1 overall pick on the 1977 draft. That was the highlight of his NBA career. His last name is that of a 1980's TV sitcom about SOAP's butler turned Governor's Head of Household.
Kent played with Isiah Thomas and the Detroit Pistons as well as with John Stockton and Karl Malone and the Utah Jazz during the 1980s. He won an NCAA championship with the Indiana Hoosiers in 1976.
Kentavious
This 10 year NBA veteran has already won two NBA championship rings with the Los Angeles Lakers and the Denver Nuggets.
Kentavious has not yet (as of March 2024) earned any other NBA accolades... but I'm almost certain he'd rather have his two rings over any other NBA recognition.
Kenyon
This NBA #1 overall draft pick (by the New Jersey Nets) went to the NBA Finals twice with Jason Kidd, and later would play along with Allen Iverson and Carmelo Anthony, as a Denver Nugget.
Kenyon made one NBA All Star game team, during his last season as a New Jersey Nets player, in 2004.
Kevin
This Kevin has been to five NBA Finals, winning one... but doing so in historical fashion... coming back from a 3-1 games deficit... the first time it has been done in NBA Finals history.
Kevin was a part of the Cavaliers' big three (as a 3-point shooter and rebounder) for the first three matchups against the Golden State Warriors, before Kyrie Irving decided to head to Boston to try to lead a team to glory.
Kermit
This 1980 NBA All Star played his lone all star game just a few miles away from the city that bears his last name.
The 1980 NBA All Star game was played in Landover, Maryland... just a couple dozen miles from Washington, D.C.
Kerry
Kerry was one of three "K" players (not including J. Kidd) who had significant playing roles during the New Jersey Nets' first of back-to-back NBA Finals appearances (in 2002 and 2003).
Kerry, along with Keith (Van Horn) and Kenyon (Martin) were swept out of the 2002 NBA Finals by the Los Angeles Lakers. They then traded Keith Van Horn for Dikembe Mutumbo (from the 76ers) which helped the Nets win two more games in the 2003 NBA Finals, but still losing 4-2 against the San Antonio Spurs.
Kevin
This #5 draft pick won his lone NBA championship and then proclaimed "Anything is possible!"
Kevin was selected, by the Minnesota Timberwolves, directly out of high school, where he won his NBA MVP award in 1994.
Kirk
This defensive specialist, drafted by the Chicago Bulls in 2003, has the distinction of making the All NBA Rookie First Team along with Carmelo Anthony, Lebron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh.
Kirk played most of his career for the Bulls (two stints), but also played for the Atlanta Hawks (two stints) and the Washington Wizards. All reasons why he never won much of anything in the NBA in his 13 year NBA career.
Kyle
As a member of the 2003 NBA draft class, this Kyle would end up playing alongside that year's #1 overall pick, during the 2017 & 2018 NBA Finals.
Lebron James was the #1 overall pick of the 2003 NBA draft. Kyle Korver was the 51st pick. Kyle would later play for the Cleveland Cavaliers during their third and fourth attempts to beat the Golden State Warriors.
Kobe
He played his entire NBA career with the same team (although he was not drafted by them) and scored 60 points in his last game... and left the world far too early and tragically.
Kobe holds the second-highest game point total with 81 points (against the Toronto Raptors) behind Wilt Chamberlain's 100 points scored in 1962. Kobe and his daughter (and others) died in a helicopter accident in January 2020.
Kevin
This Kevin hasn't done much since being drafted #2 overall... well, except win two NBA championships and two NBA Finals MVPs and one NBA MVP and four NBA scoring titles and Rookie Of The Year (2008).
Kevin also led the talented Oklahoma City Thunder to the 2012 NBA Finals against the stacked Miami Heat, but lost to the Heat, despite Kevin averaging over 30 points per game, over the five-game series.
Khris
With a last name like this, you would think he would play at the center position, but he is 6'7"... and a recent NBA champion.
Khris, a forward, was part of the 2021 Milwaukee Bucks team that won the NBA Championship, beating the Phoenix Suns in six games.
Kiki
This two-time NBA All-Star small forward scored over 15,000 points in his 13 season NBA career, averaging just shy of 20 points per game.
Kiki played for four teams from 1980 to 1993 and averaged just short of 30 points (29.4) per game for the Nuggets in the 1983/84 season, placing third in the scoring championship standings for that season.
Kevin
This Kevin became the 55th mayor of Sacramento (where he also played high school basketball) after his NBA career.
Kevin did something seemingly impossible by dunking over the all-time NBA blocks leader, Hakeem Olajuwon, during the 1994 NBA playoffs... just one year following the playoffs where his Phoenix Suns came two wins short of beating the unstopaBULLs, to become first time NBA Champions.
Klay
Like his "splash brothers" teammate, Klay's father also played in the NBA (for the L.A. Lakers) and unlike his father (or anyone else), Klay holds the NBA record for most points in a quarter, with 37!
Klay's "splash brothers" teammate Stephen Curry (son to the Charlotte Hornets' Dell Curry) has had his share of depth-defying three pointer games, but Klay has outdone his teammate by dropping 14 3-pointers (against the Chicago Bulls), out-splashing his "brother" by one 3-pointer.
Kristaps
Kristaps was drafted by the New York Knicks in 2015 with the #4 overall pick. He is now playing with the mighty Boston Celtics, and has averaged over 20 points per game for three different franchises (not including the Celtics).
Kristaps Porzingis, born in Latvia, is currently (as of March 2024) the third highest scorer on the Boston Celtics (scoring about 20 points per game). He has scored over 20 points per game with the Knicks, the Mavericks, and the Wizards.
Kevin
This Kevin's lone NBA All-Star selection and lone NBA Championship ring were earned 11 years apart from each other. This proves that his WILL IS strong, also demonstrated by his retirement age at 44!
Kevin Willis was selected as an NBA All-Star for the 1992 game in Orlando (Magic Johnson's last All-Star game) and he won his lone NBA championship with the 2003 San Antonio Spurs. Despite Kevin's 7'0" height, he had a below average (for his height) wing-span of 6'10".
Kwame
He shares the last name with that of the head coach of the 2004 NBA champion Detroit Pistons... a team Kwame played for from 2008-10.
Larry Brown was the head coach of the 2004 NBA Champion Detroit Pistons.
Kyle
Kyle has played in two different NBA Finals, winning one of them (on his first attempt). He currently holds the franchise record for assists (4,277) with that team that won its first NBA title.
Kyle Lowry won his first (and only thus far) NBA ring with the Toronto Raptors (2019) and also went to the NBA Finals in 2023 with the Miami Heat, starting one of those games.
Kyrie
He was a #1 overall draft pick and Rookie Of The Year (in 2012) and has one NBA championship ring, but this gifted point guard has already been with four teams, trying to earn a second ring.
After six years with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Kyrie decided to bolt out of Cleveland to search for NBA glory as the leader of the team, rather than play in Lebron James' shadow. He missed out on a fourth straight NBA Finals appearance in 2018... perhaps he could have helped them get past the Warriors that year.
Kenny
"The Jet" came second in the Slam Dunk Contest in 1990 (Dominique Wilkins won). He did go on to win two NBA championship rings with the Houston Rockets... taking advantage of Michael Jordan's absence and Hakeem Olajuwon's NBA dominance.
Kenny "The Jet" Smith never played with Charles Barkley (IN the NBA) as he now does OUT of the NBA, as Kenny's last season with the Rockets (95/96) was the season before Charles Barkley arrived (for his last four NBA seasons). Kenny played for three other teams (Detroit Pistons, Orlando Magic, and the Denver Nuggets) before retiring.
Kurt
Kurt has been involved in NBA trades that included Jamal Mashburn (1997), Brent Barry (2008), and Richard Jefferson (2009). He played for nine different franchises over his 18 year career.
Kurt played for the Miami Heat, then the Dallas Mavericks, then the New York Knicks, then the Phoenix Suns, then the Seattle Supersonics, then the San Antonio Spurs, then the Milwaukee Bucks, then the Chicago Bulls, then the Portland Trailblazers, and then back to the Knicks before retiring after playing 1,110 games!
Kevin
Kevin led the NBA for four seasons in the assists per game category... but is not on the all-time Top 25 NBA assists leader list, like his fellow last-namesake Terry (of the Portland Trailblazers fame).
Kevin once held the record (in 1978) for dishing out 29 assists in a game and led the NBA in assists per game for four seasons between 1975 and 1981.
Kelvin
He was part of the trade to the Orlando Magic that brought Tracy McGrady to the Houston Rockets.
Unfortunately, Kelvin has few (if any) NBA accolades to mention. He almost racked up 3,000 each of points and rebounds in his NBA career (2,960 and 2,874, respectively).
Kendrick
He's of no relation to that "Psycho" Anthony. He also is not related to the 1984 NBA draft pick, taken after Michael Jordan in 1984.
Anthony Perkins starred in the Alfred Hitchcock movie "Psycho". Kendrick Perkins starred on the 2008 Celtics team that earned Boston their 17th NBA championship, after a 22 year wait. Sam Perkins, a North Carolina teammate of Michael Jordan, was chosen #4 in the 1984 NBA draft.
