Yes, I remember crossing the vast deserts of Canada on my trusty camel... or moose...

"A desert is a barren area of landscape where little precipitation occurs and consequently living conditions are hostile for plant and animal life"(Wikipedia).

I don't know the source used by the creator, but many parts of Canada may well fit in the definition.

Anyway, it's clear that a desert doesn't have to be full of sand, the biggest desert of the world is Antarctica.

Exactly. A desert is defined by lack of precipitation. Not by the presence of camels and sand.

The Canadian territories are largely tundra, which is a type of desert I believe. Just a cold one

This is a fun quiz, well done. Too bad there isn't a way to highlight each top five by itself so when you type in a country it doesn't fill-in every relevant answer. Like it though.

Another good quiz. I do think they could do with a bit more time as some of the categories aren't that straight forward and require a bit of thinking.

It's a tricky balance between not having long enough to spam loads of countries and having long enough to think about each category for a decent amount of time. Difficult I know, but on balance I think there should be more time.

Or even better cut the number of categories.

Took me a while to understand why the likes of Merckx, Indurain or Anquetil weren't accepted. Turns out they aren't countries.

Singapore, Monaco, etc. aren't on the list for least forest? Even by percentage, I was sure that both would be there.

Good point about Monaco - it doesn't appear on the source. Singapore has 3% forest cover, 10x more than Mauritania

Monaco and Vatican are just parts of a city, so yes you'd imagine they're basically 0%, but the rest do have quite a lot of woodland.

Germany has 408 medals to Norway's 368, unless you arbitrarily exclude East German medals. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to say arbitrarily, I meant to say: unless you exclude them on purpose to artificially inflate the ranking of the US.

The forest % has me scratching my head a little, with Vatican City not on there. I also tried Nauru and Maldives. It's hard to believe the Vatican has enough trees to be considered forest. This was a very enjoyable quiz.
