Excellent quiz! The map beautifully explains the concept of the question!

I'd also love a version without the countries' borders represented :)

Nowhere near enough time.

It's sort of hard to distinguish when a region has been guessed or not. The shade of green isn't very dark.

The map gives it away! How about removing the map from this quiz? (or maybe only displaying it to explain the answers)

some answers are quite strange. Why including Brasilia and Mexico, but not Caracas that is closer to Equator, for example ? why not Kinshasa ?

Weird... don't get it

If you were travelling on the equator, it's figuring out which capital is closest to you from any point you are at along the equator. There's no point where Caracas is closer to you than another capital. Does that make sense?

How so? Praia and Mexico City are way further north than Caracas.

As Getreelgirl said, "There's no point where Caracas is closer to you than another capital." Don't think of it as strictly distance to the equator. Think of traveling around the equator and at every instant gauging what the closest capital to you is. It will change as you go, but it will never be (for example) Caracas, or Panama City, or Kinshasa, because although very close to the equator, there is for each of these an even closer capital along that stretch of equator.

For example, if you are under Caracas on the equator, you are actually closer to Bogota or Georgetown. But if you are in the middle of nowhere in the Pacific Ocean, you are closer to Mexico than any other capital.

Each portion of the map shows which capital is closer to you when you are on the equator in this portion. You can see that, even if Mexico is farther from the equator than Caracas, if you walk along the equator, there is a moment when Mexico is the only capital closest to you. But when you travel north america, there is no moment whan Caracas is closest to you than Bogota or Georgetown.

I hope you understand. English is not my first language, it is difficult to explain clearly without a big vocabulary... ^^'

Thanks, Getreelgirl! Now it makes sense. The description for the quiz maybe could use more detail. Depending on how you interpret it, it means two different things.

Turns out many of the capitals I struggle with are near the equator...

It's very hard to distinguish when a region has been guessed. I think either change the color scheme when a region has been guessed, or add some time.

I love the usage of Voronoi Diagrams, they're my favorite kind of map!

This is a great map! love it

my one question is, how do you decide where to draw the lines for each section on the side of the equator without the capital in it?

A better explanation might be, "For any given point along the equator, which capital city is closest?"
