The Wiki Games: Introduction
Hello all, I am here to announced the (possible) start of a new competition! It will involve navigating from one random Wikipedia page to another using only the mouse. Pages will be checked to see if they are navigable.
Rules
As stated above, the competition is to see whoever out of two people can navigate between two random Wikipedia pages the fastest using only the mouse. Here are some extra rules:
1. On-screen keyboards are not allowed
2. Only the time of the first try counts
3. Clicking the back button is allowed, but any other keyboard shortcuts are not
This competition relies on the honesty of the contestants, as I have no way of knowing if you have cheated or not.
How It Will Work
This tournament will be in a bracket-style, with two people competing to navigate from one page to another the fastest. The winner will move on to the next round. I will create a group and invite contestants to it to report scores. A blog will be made each round announcing which two pages competitors must navigate between. As of the writing of this blog, there will be 16 participants (if there are not enough I will invite some of my real friends or add some byes). The first eight (8) users to enter will be seeded! I will update the bracket as often as I can as it is being filled.
Bracket
Let the games begin! Please let me know if there is anything that you would like to be changed or added. Note: rounds and blogs may take a while to make as I am still helping Ethaboo make the Blog Games.
One question: Are we allowed multiple attempts? I'd assume not, since we might be able to memorize the "route" to the final page?
Another thing is that maybe you should require all participants to list the pages they went through to get to the final page? You could estimate how long it would take the average person by going through it yourself, so it would be pretty easy to weed out any obviously exaggerated times. It would also allow you to verify if a submitted record that is far faster than others is actually legit, since the person who submitted it may have taken a different, quicker route than others. Just a thought, though.
it means you have to quit jetpunkIt means you go to the next round without fighting :)
Ethaboo should hide for spreading false information and needlessly summoning Stewart.
That whole sentence was not capitalised or properly punctuated, so neither was "jetpunk".
Good idea!
