The True Goals of the Russo-Ukrainian War

+4

Introduction

The Russo-Ukrainian conflict started in 2014, when Russia annexed Crimea, and continues through today, boosted by an escalation in 2022 when Russia invaded mainland Ukraine. The western media depicts it as a war to completely take over Ukraine, in which is completely false in ways I will explain, along with what I think the true reason of the war was.

The Real Reason

The reason for the invasion was not to control all of Ukraine, but to annex the territory that was ethnically a majority Russian, and connect these territories (Crimea, Luhansk, Donetsk). Due to the majority of the population being of Russian ethnicity, Russia could use this as a reason for other nations to recognize these annexations, unlike if Russia annexed a different territory, along with the relatively few losses it would take compared to a full takeover. Not only would land be claimed, but due to NATO not allowing countries at war to join, it ment Ukraine could not join NATO if a war were to occur.

Explanation

The first part of the plan, was to gain the lands that required little to no losses, AKA Crimea. Crimea was annexed quickly, with no resistance, and soon, the Donbas would have its own conflict as a pretext to what was to come. Russian media depicted the war as a genocide Ukraine was committing against the people in the area, giving way for one of the reasons to invade. Fast foward to 2022, and we see 150,000 Russian troops on the border of Ukraine, ready to invade. This is the first flag as to why their goal wasn't to take over all of Ukraine: The numbers. No matter how strong your army is, you cannot completely take over a nation like Ukraine with only 150,000 troops. Many people believe that the reason Russia hasn't taken over Ukraine is the inferiority of its army, but in reality, its because of the amount of troops Russia put in (People think Russia is using their entire army, ex. a comment on a quiz saying "despite Putin's best efforts" etc.). Now, when Russia invaded, they occupied the Donbas, and also had troops near major cities (Kiev, Kharkiv). The reach for these cities, was not actually to take them over, but as a distraction. Because where will a nation put most of its troops to defend if it's being invaded? The capital. Hence why Russia sent a force to the capital, not to take over, but to distract the majority of the forces of Ukraine while it takes over its true goal, of the Donbas, and a land bridge connecting the states to Crimea. When Russia occupied their land goal, they withdrew troops from the Kiev front, and slowly got into defensive positions, eventually withdrawing from around Kharkiv. Once Russia fortified its positions, it added an additional 350,000 troops to defend the territory. Its current goal is to defend until Ukraine tires out, with small offenses every so often to add miniscule chunks to the annexation. In the video below, it shows how the land change has moved exponentially, and has been in a stalemate for the past few months, compared to before, in which there was clear gains and losses.

The Future

So, what can we expect in the future? Well considering Russia has all the lands it needs, the only thing left is to wait for Ukraine to wear out, which could take a while with all of the western aid. It is uncertain whether these lands will be recognized, unless a treaty is signed with Ukraine to stop the war and recognize these lands. Now that Russia is on the defensive, it is very likely it will hold out, and has all the resources it needs to defend from a country like Ukraine, in the territory it occupies.

End Notes

I predict the western media will make Russia seem like the loser, for not obtaining their "original" goals, while Russian media will make it out as a unification of race, and a worthwhile war. Either way, Russia will not collapse, and WWIII won't happen.

Now for my opinion on the punishments on Russia? They shouldn't happen. The sanctions are unneeded, and are hurting the citizens of Russia more than the Government. I talked with someone who wants to leave Russia, but can't because of the Sanctions imposed, limiting the ways they can make money. Kicking Russia from the UN Human Rights Council is just hypocritical, because every member has done just as bad, if not worse when it comes to human rights. Overall, theres nothing we can do without hurting more people, as Russia has already invaded.

Ukraine, NATO, and the Past: One of the said reasons for invaded Ukraine was to prevent them from joining NATO. While this does seem like a bad reason, we must also remmeber the times the US invaded harmless neighbors because they were communist (Grenada, Cuba to an extent). NATO being able to move weapons through Ukraine freely poses just as much of a danger to Russia, as Grenada posed to the US. If this was the sole reason for the invasion of Ukraine, then the war likely wouldn't have happened.

The issue of Zelenskyy and NATO expansion is missing in this blog. If anyone wants peace (rather than victory), then stop sending weapons, call on a ceasefire immediately and start negotiation.

Good blog. It's true that western media is not completely honest on the causes and motives of the invasion, but Russia is still in the wrong no matter how you look at it.

Eh... I doubt it, honestly. I reckon Russia is just taking historical and cultural regions of their people within Ukraine.

Yes, but its likely an invasion was planned from the start, but wasn't actually done until the time was right, while in the mean time, easier tasks were done that were making progress in the overall plan.

While this blog is not entirely inaccurate, simply allowing countries to invade other countries and take a chunk of their land is not conducive to world peace. (They will just keep doing it again and again, gaining more territory each time)

Also, legitimizing it through "Russian ethnicity" is total garbage; uniting an ethnicity or race into one state is not necessary (and arguably racist) in the current state of affairs.

Agreed, mostly. Ethnic enclaves are not a justifiable incentive to invade other nations. If it was, why shouldn't China invade Singapore? Why shouldn't Romania invade Moldova? Why shouldn't Azerbaijan invade Iran?

1. Why should Romania invade Moldova if the Moldovan government is already completely dependent on Romania (the president of Moldova is a Romanian citizen), and Moldova itself considers the main goal to become part of Romania?

2. It is profitable for China to trade with Singapore+Singapore currently does not pose any threat to the Chinese (if it were not for c, then most likely we would already know that China is planning something)

3. Will Azerbaijan invade Iran? Even if he wanted to, he would not be able to stand alone against Iran, (although he can still make claims with Turkey)

Okay, maybe my examples weren't the greatest, but ethnic enclaves are still not a justification for invading other countries, killing, and raping innocent people.

I would not recommend listening to Danilova, who is experiencing undisguised pleasure from stories about rape by Russians (in general, this is some kind of fashion in propaganda, remember "2 million raped German women"). By the way, at first Russia conducted a rather neat "special operation" (for a conflict of this magnitude), but now it is a brutal war (not least thanks to the United States)

I'm not the United States though. I can oppose it and also live in the US. I'm not a hypocrite; when did I invade Grenada? When did I invade Iraq? Afghanistan? Mexico?

The US was absolutely wrong for their invasions of those countries but two wrongs don't make a right.

I see the anti-Russian action in this blog and I am completely moved to see completely wrong information.

Uno, why say that Russia wants to annex the territories of Donetsk and Luhansk and other territories of Donbass. I guess you are probably ignorant or brainwashed that Russia bombed Donetsk and Luhansk territories for 8 years. You would be completely wrong! Ukraine bombed pro-Russian territories for 8 years (annexation of Crimea). I guess that is something acceptable by our beautiful friend who is the United States.

Segundo, insult my country? Insult my origins, my culture, my food and all Russian origins and culture? This is unacceptable! Why not punish the United States for bombing more than 80 countries which are: Afghanistan, Syria, El Salvador, Serbia, Iraq, Iran and many more. Why shouldn't you punish this country for the acts committed? Isn't the USA the big brothers of the world?

Tercio, The 150,000 Russian soldiers on the border with Ukraine, aren't they in their country, are they? What do you think of the many American bases in many other countries, such as Australia, Japan, etc.

Cuatro, saying that the Russian army is non-existent and incompetent? I assume you don't have statistics. Second largest army in the world and most tanks in the world and many more statistics.

I hope I haven't insulted you in any way. I hope you have a nice day.

First of all, make sure to buy more copium supplements, since you clearly are all out.

Second of all, Russia DOES and has DECLARED that they have annexed Donetsk and Luhansk, PLUS Zaporizhzhia and Kherson (though the annexations are bogus and therefore unrecognized).

Ukraine isn't an absolutely purified angel but they are not in the wrong in this situation.

The United States is absolutely wrong for what they did but the United States is not currently bombing countries and therefore would not currently be punished for it. Use your common sense. Russia would be currently receiving punishments and sanctions BECAUSE THEY ARE ACTIVELY KILLING AND RAPING INNOCENT UKRAINIANS.

It's funny, then why wasn't the USA punished at the time when it was doing this? Or "fi, it doesn't count, how dare you, we are a peace-loving nation, we don't like it when the big ones invade the weak"

It makes me laugh. I'm sorry, 100,000 to 1,000,000 people died during the Iraq War. According to the UN (and now it is not very favorable to Russia, if anything), 8,000 people died during the war in Ukraine (but undoubtedly more). Both there and there are civilians.
