Did you ever see Netherlands on a list of countries that starts with letter 'T', just like how El Salvador is listed on a Countries that start with letter 'E'?

Do you ever see The Gambia as starting with T despite the fact that it's official name is definitely "The Gambia"

@renecondeu have you ever heard anybody say Netherlands instead of The Netherlands in a real life conversation? No, because that would sound as weird as saying Salvador. Actually, I took a gamble there, maybe people dó say Salvador sometimes? Anyway the point is noone ever says netherlands without "the". That sounds as weird as "I need go home"

That being said I have no real opinion whether it should be on here or not. Because for the purpose of the quizes on this site, the "the" is often dropped. But it is definitely part of the name, officially and in common speech.

Yeah I thought that. Its official name is (The Kingdom of the) Netherlands. Though obviously its' mostly called The Netherlands, or Holland. I personally would say "the Netherlands", but that might just be because it sounds plural and would sound odd without a the, same for Philippines.

Although it's part of a more-than-one-word name, Herzegovina on its own has eleven letters. But it wouldn't be fair to include it, really.

I checked, because, well it is equally interesting/waste of time, as this quiz, new trivia.

There are several in german that are 13 letters, but only one with more, which weirdly does not have a space or hyphen: Äquatorialguinea. Almost like they did it on purpose to have a long countryname in there ;) 16 letters. So alas there are no longer ones.

Your comment is grammatically incorrect - it should be 'has', 'contains' or 'is made up of' etc. Even so, what's your point? Tegucigalpa also has 11 letters.
