Capital city meanings

Below is a list of meanings, each referring to a capital city. Can you match the meaning to the capital?
The meanings used are all for the commonly-used English version of the name – so, for example, Bangkok rather than Kr'ng Thep.
All the capitals except one are what I would call well known. And as for that one which is less well-known – really, who in their right mind calls their capital city "Monday"?
No, Smartypants, the answer to the first one is not "Blackpool". Capitals only.

You could add "haven of peace" to the African list and even "Free town" just for fun.

I was just about to add D-e-S but then at the last minute realised it's not the capital any more (or at least it's status as "a" capital is at best debatable). I love the idea of Free Town though, thank you :-)

I can't work out how to do it, dammit :-( It doesn't appear in the grid when I add it to the answers.
