Uh, there's nothing to "fix". Russia has controlled the Crimean peninsula for almost a decade. Whether them taking it over was morally justifiable or not, and whether you politically approve of it or not, it is the reality on the ground. If every piece of land that some country took over by violent force at some point in history was shown as being under some previous owner's control, the map of the world would look a hell of a lot different than how it actually does, and would, in fact, be downright unrecognizable. Stop living in an imaginary dream world, and accept reality, harsh though it may be.
I'm going to lose sleep over this. I did this quiz half a second ago and there was a mystery country in the middle of the African answers "IN SWAT" It was an extra country and when I hovered over the map it was not there. I just did the quiz again and IN SWAT is not one of the answers. Also the first time I did the quiz, el Salvador autocorrected to The Saviour in the answers, but it stayed el Salvador the second time.
Inquiring minds want to know! Are these little Easter eggs for us geography nerds?

After weeks of trying and learning all the countries and flags, I am down to a time of 6:48. Once I stop my silly typos while speeding I could get an even better score.
I am 18 months old, can type all countries and their capitals, distinguish flags of all countries, able to speak 30+ languages at scholarly level, have been to 70+ countries, had handshake with country leaders of all countries I've visited, played some hide and seek with arctic seals, and peed all over the south pole to show Dominance.
I would like to hear stories from other fellow baby travelers, preferably under age of 3, cuz I love learning new things from elderly humans.
Completed in 8:18, typing as fast as I can (which is admittedly not very fast) but the people getting under four 4 minutes are pretty impressive, that’s like around one word/country per second.
'Gambia' should be listed as The Gambia and 'Bahamas' should be listed as The Bahamas, for the official name of The Gambia is Republic of The Gambia, and the official name of The Bahamas is Commonwealth of The Bahamas.
By your logic, then they should only accept “The Republic of The Gambia?” I get where you’re coming from, but it seems Jetpunk is a site where “The” isn’t needed, as it already has multiple differences along country names.
I decided to make a list of all the countries and copy/paste it. It did not work, only a couple countries were accepted for some reason. I even put "dr" before "drc" and "uk" before "ukraine" like why didn't it work?
Best I can get is 190. Any tips? I know UK and DR. Any other short cuts? I just can’t type fast enough. Those darn “Stan” countries! So long and so many k’s!!! Lol.
Russia's Unfriendly Countries List, funny enough, includes Taiwan, but Russia doesn't recognize the government and sees all territories owned by Taiwan to be part of Communist China (the PRC).
If you recognize Taiwan, you lose 30 trillion social credit score.
I don't understand how some of yall are getting times closer to 3mins because the best i can do is currently 6:51. It's not bad but i'm hoping i could improve it
A question to Quizmaster: In this comment section are loads of comments, but it only shows the comments of the last 2 years. Is there an option to see all the comments ever made? Reason I'm asking is because i made a quiz related to the comment section of this quiz, and if I can't see all the comments, it makes it impossible to update the quiz
The hard part, for me, isn't memorizing the countries.
It's because my arms get so sore while I'm typing and my fingers go way too fast across the keyboard so I usually mess up the spelling, so I might spell "Belarus" as "Bealrus" before I correct it.
This is why my fastest time is 7:20 and not something like 6 minutes.
Also, I'm an American, DESTROYING the stereotype that Americans are bad at geography (Yes I spend way too much time studying geography and yes I got 196/196).
Its easy for me to remember every country but i can't type fast enough! My fastest speed is 5:24 and I have tried sososo many times to beat it and i cant. Closest i came to beating it was getting 5:24 again. I've been trying but i make wayy too many typos and just dont type fast enough in general
finally beat it! got 5:06, so not much better but still an improvement. (I start with the americas, then africa, then west to east asia, then oceania, then europe. I realized that europe takes me WAYY too long and did the second last and thats how i finally beat my time)
I have been trying for WEEKS to complete this. When I first started this quiz, I would average maybe 70/196, and eventually made it up to a point where I would just forget about some of the countries I used to always get. I feel very accomplished, now Im on my way to learn *where* they are on the map lol
btw, my biggest challenges were Georgia, Kuwait, Lebanon, Bhutan, Brunei, and Bahrain.
congrats!! nice to see someone here on the same day as me lol (also, I had sort of an opposite journey; I was only able to remember everything once I learned the location of every single country. good luck on that too!!)
Did this once by looking at the locations and typing out the names from memory, finished in 10 minutes and something.
Now I tried another strategy, which was "singing the entire Updated Nations of The World song in my head, then typing out everything except for Palestine and add Taiwan and Kosovo which aren't there for some reason"; this time I got 5:53 hahaha.
You’re certainly an opinionated one - then again so was kal. I personally couldn’t care less, but I’m gonna go by what he said on the blog. If he comes back, whatever.
I have a controversial opinion. I recognize Crimea as Ukraine but I know that Russia pretty much exerts full control over the territory. So as with West Bank and Gaza by Palestine and Israel, shouldn’t it been a good option to just gray out Crimea?
I can comment I am so happy. as an American myself I'm pretty happy to have cleared the course and brag about it. but this comment section is really humbling because seeing other people clear this in 2 minutes is CRAZY. This quiz is really fun and challenging.
really good, keep trying! I was stuck at 10 min for a long time, but I kept persisting and I've reached a score that I am settling with (8 min and 30 sec) So do your best and I'm sure you'll do way better than me. You've got this!!!!!!!!!!!
PS: I Iove seeing people progress so keep sharing.
I haven't tried in a while lol

Good luck to all trying!!
9.4% of test takers also scored 100%
The average score is 111
Your high score is 196
Your fastest time is 5:55
I could never achieve a time that good myself :)
I would like to hear stories from other fellow baby travelers, preferably under age of 3, cuz I love learning new things from elderly humans.
196 countries
to get a country per second you would need to do it in 3 minutes and 16 seconds (196 seconds obviously)
240 dived by 196
240- 196 = 44
1
44 divided by 196=
44-39.2=4.8
(0.2)
4.8 divided by 196=
0.01 of 196 = 1.96
1.96 times 2 equals 3.92
4.8-3.92= 0.88
(0.02)
0.88 divided by 196 =
0.001 of 196 is 0.196
0.196 times 2 = 0.392 times that by 2 gets us 0.784
0.88- 0.784 = 0.096
(0.004)
0.096 divided by 196= 0.0004ish
1.2244
----------------------------------------------------------------
so 240 divided by 196= 1.2244(ish)
which means to do it in 4 minutes your are typing 1.2244 countries per second ill be honest that doesn't sound right ill double checking now:
yep i did the math the wrong way round after A LOT OF MATH WHICH IM NOT TYPING OUT AGAIN (instead i did it on paper)
----------------------------------
ANSWER:
i realise the answer is 0.81666667 countries per second if you were to do it in 4 minutes which is crazy i only have a time of 8:27
All so I can say that i always can only get 195 on this quiz. Because taiwan is a province, not a country.
Russia's Unfriendly Countries List, funny enough, includes Taiwan, but Russia doesn't recognize the government and sees all territories owned by Taiwan to be part of Communist China (the PRC).

Isn't it supposed to be 195 then?
ngl i lost like a minute because of spelling mistakes
Will give updates
