Great! But I wish mine got featured, too - http://www.jetpunk.com/user-quizzes/91108/world-map-without-10-borders

Yes, that's a bit tough writing a quiz, then seeing another person's close copy being featured. I appreciate that quiz feature decisions rest with one person, Quizmaster, who has a million things to deal with on Jetpunk, so both versions may not necessarily have been spotted before one got featured (or maybe there were editorial reasons - perhaps Kolji's one was easier to convert to featuring than Scambi's). Still, it would be great for the morale of quiz writers if there was an emphasis on the originator of an idea being worked with to produce a featured quiz, rather than going with a copy, if that's not too inconvenient.

What projection do you use for your maps? Gall(-Peters)? Seems to be very distorted.

This is a great idea for a quiz, but I don't agree with Crimea being included as a part of Russia. It's only recognized as such by a very small group of countries. If we are going that way, then Luhansk, Donetsk, South Ossetia, etc. should be included as well.

This is a very complex debate. What makes a country? The recognition of the rest of the countries, or the actual situation whithin its borders? If most of the inhabitans have decided to join Russia, and it is actually ruled by Moscow, does it really matters how many countries are happy with it? I despise Russia's (and any other country's) imperialistic expansionism as much as the next man, but having the maps reflect a distorted reality won't really help anyone.

Yes, the recognition of other countries and U.N. by large is the key factor.

Fun quiz idea! Can't believe I got them all except for Russia and Mongolia.. Probably did not expect something there. I take it that some small nations such as Liechtenstein or Monaco are not displayed as you used the Countries of the World-map? I recall typing in Liechtenstein and Austria for example.

Found this next to impossible given the scale of the map It's an interesting concept, effectively a "where's Waldo" of borders. Would need more time and a better description of the quiz - i.e. twenty countries have been merged by removing their border from the map. I was thinking the answers were Tanganyika and Zanzibar or the Trucial states of UAE.

I'm glad other people enjoyed this; personally I found this to be exceptionally frustrating. If the world map were colored instead of all countries being the same color, that would have helped.

Didn't understand the quiz after struggling through it, and still didn't until I read some of the comments. First one I thought of was Zanzibar + Tanganyika = Tanzania, so I clicked there and saw nothing. I also clicked on Canada to see Canada + Newfoundland = Canada, and once again nothing happened. Need much better directions.

He's talking about countries that merged in real life. Newfoundland was a separate dominion until it joined Canadian confederation in 1949, and Zanzibar and Tanganyika merged in 1964.

The merged countries turned green as soon as I typed one of them, so I thought it was enough to name either of them. I wasn't scrolled down enough to see the table. It would be nice if the instructions were more explicit that you have to name both countries (or if only the one you guessed would turn green, but that would require unmerging.)

something seems to have gone wrong with this for me, for example the russia/mongolia quiz hid mongolia and china for me. (only guessed russia through luck) The argentina/Paraguay match seems to be argentina uraguay. Finland didn't seem to be on the map. That is what i noticed first at least

When did Surinam and Guyana merge? - Surinam was Dutch Guiana until 1986 when it became Surinam (note, without the "e") and Guyana was British Guiana until it became independent (sorry, can't remember the year) and renamed itself Guyana.
