Home of the Cyprus Operations Support Unit.

The role of the Station is to deter military aggression against the UK’s South Atlantic Overseas Territories in order to maintain UK sovereignty. It serves as a staging post for flights between the UK and the Falklands with an approximate flight time of 8 hours.

A critical component of the RAF Battlespace Management Force. Uses ground-based military and civilian radars to monitor, detect and identify all aircraft in and around UK airspace - 24/7, 365 days a year.

The largest RAF Station.The Station is home to the RAF's Strategic and Tactical Air Transport and Air-to-Air Refuelling forces.

The station provides a continuous ballistic missile early warning service to the UK and US Governments, ensuring a surprise missile attack cannot succeed.

It hosts and supports HQ Air Command, several Groups, and the European Air Group. It also supports the Joint Ground Based Air Defence, and Joint Force Air Component Commander.

The airfield's position at the western end of the Mediterranean makes it an ideal staging post for aircraft on operations and as a supporting base for major NATO exercises in the Mediterranean and Iberian peninsular areas.

The station is home to the F-35B Lightning.

The hub of ISTAR and the main operating base for airborne intelligence aircraft and systems like the E-3D Sentry AEW1.

A Joint Force Command Station and home to the Joint Force Intelligence Group and the National Centre for Geospatial Intelligence.

The College trains the next generation of Air Traffic Controllers, Weapons Controllers, Identification Officers, Flight Operations personnel, Air and Space Operations Specialists, and is a worldwide centre of excellence on leading-edge battlespace management training and education.

The station is located in the Falkland Islands and is the most recent purpose-built airfield in the RAF.

Home to No 4 Flying Training School, responsible for training the UK's next generation of world-class fighter pilots. Aircrew are also trained at this station for mountain and maritime operations throughout the world.

It was the world’s first Air Academy and today, it continues to select and train the next generation of officers and aircrew. Home to a broad range of Supported Force Elements including RAF Recruitment and Selection, Headquarters Air Cadets, Central Flying School and The Air Warfare School.
