Can you name the 44 most populous cities in the geographically and culturally defined region of the Balkans?
Romania is often included in the Balkans, more as a result of its culture rather than geography, seeing as very little of the country actually lies in the Balkan Peninsula. I have chosen to omit Romania, for subjective reasons
By urban area using Wikipedia and citypopulation.de as sources
A small portion of Romania is included in the Balkan region, and I would argue it has a greater resemblance both culturally and historically to its Balkan neighbours, however I made the decision not to include it in this quiz.
I spent the most time percentage-wise just finding the populations of these cities the best I could, but if you see any flaws in the city sizes, please be sure to let me know. I want my numbers to reflect the number of people who live in the greater urbanised area, however I dislike citypopulation.de's agglomorations for their extreme liberties when finding the general urban population, as they tend to extend city borders over rural, depopulated land in order to group unrelated cities together.
wow, fantastic map! love how you used country flags as well in the grid, much more pleasant to the eyes. a suggestion - maybe add the ocean to the map?
Thank you very much, I find that adding flags makes the layout of the quiz overall to be much more palatable. I chose not to include the sea, as I like the more smplistic design it gives the map, although I have been experimenting with new ways to draw the ocean which I may try out in a similar style quiz I'm making.
