When you update for 2014, I'd suggest raising the cut-off to 8. Too many names right now.

Raised the cut-off from 6 to 7.

Thanks! I still like 8 as that inlcludes 'notable' players like Rivaldo and Maradona, but none of the 7-goal players is a big name. Of course maybe that would make it too easy (said the guy who could not come up with Klinsmann).

Lukaku and Kane could make this list on the 3rd place decision this saturday. Kane needs a single goal and Lukaku needs two.

Johnny Rep is at 7 too. Played in the Ajax team voted by 4-4-2 as the best club side in history.

Saw there were no Americans so didn't guess Donovan. Got Pele and Ronaldo. Then got Muller and Muller because I knew it was the most common last name in Germany. Then I quit.

Also, Leonidas? Awesome. Was that before or after the battle of Thermopylae? That guy kicks ass.

Maradona should really be 7, as one goal was scored by cheating ( i.e. using his hand), not right to count it against players who play fair.

Come on Kane! One more in the playoff with Belgium and he makes the list!

Crap, I forgot about the 3rd place game. It seems weird that Kane will probably win the Golden Boot considering that 3 of his 6 goals were penalties and one was a completely accidental deflection.

Check all the others in this list, you will find many penalties and deflections, that is the game. A goal is just as good as any other if it counts (unless it is a cheaters goal such as Maradona's cheating goal)

I got Pele and that's better than only 0.7% of quiz takers?? Come on, Americans. Show the world we know nothing about these people who might be the one to finish a game 1-0 in 2 hours.

Actually, I am very happy that Americans are slowly embracing the beautiful game of football. I hope that till the World Cup 2026 it will become Top 2 sports in USA, along with basketball.

@someone, I'd still rather spend 2 hours watching two 45 minute halves than 3-4 hours watching four 15 minute quarters.

Gerd Muller is one of only a handful of players to score more than a game a goal at international level. At the moment Battistuta is the only player to score a hat-trick in two separate World Cups.
