Where did you get your information? So far off it's almost laughable...approximately 29% of Americans own a gun or guns. Not quite the 88.8% you profess.
The numbers are based on the average of figures provided by the Small Arms Survey.
But you misunderstood this quiz, numbers are based on dividing the total amount of civilian owned guns in a nation by the total population of that nation. (Guns / People) As some people may possess multiple weapons while others possess none, this number is not a representation of the percentage of people who possess guns in each nation.
To make my self more clear. There're about 314,229,000 americans, and about 279,035,352 guns in your country. If you divide the amount of guns (279,035,352) by the amout of americans (314,229,000). You get 0,888 which makes up 88.8% guns for 100% americans.
So again has nothing to do with how many people own a gun!
The 0.888 guns per person can also be 'misleading' because it has nothing to do with guns per person but just with the gun rate of a country. And because rate is normaly given in %, I did the same.
But I understand all this can be misunderstood so i'll just add some information to the explanation to make it more clear.
agree with alohonyai it would be much better to just say the amount of guns per capita, rather than giving a percentage which actually does not correlate to anything.
Still don't get where all this fuzz was about. First, the whole quiz says nothing about owning guns. Second, it clearly says gun rate. And I hope every understands what rate means. If the quiz was called: 'Countries with the highest theme park rate' everyone would understand, you just compare the amout of theme parks with the amout of people in that country, nothing about how many people own theme parks. Same goes for this quiz, but mine is about guns and not about theme parks.
It's just when people read the title and see the world 'gun' they think it's about owning a gun. But if you read the whole title you would understand. Tip for all people who read this! Before you tell someone his quiz is laughable, read the title and discription again,.. Thanks.

Surprised to see France on here, and I missed # 2 Serbia. I thought I typed in Iraq but I guess not. Got most of the others.
