Secret Invasion Thoughts

*SPOILERS AHEAD*

Episode 3 - Betrayed: I don't think G'iah really died. I'm not quite sure what that scene was about, but I'm sure she's coming back. The voice on the phone with Fury's wife at the end I swear sounded like Rhodey. I'm writing this segment just a day before episode 4, and honestly, episode 3 was a little forgettable for me, but I know I enjoyed it.

Episode 4 - Beloved: Ok, what?! Talos is gone?! Oh man. He’s only been with us for four years. I wonder how soon Carol Danvers will know. And then Rhodey is a Skrull- I saw that one coming miles away. But still, where is our Rhodey? How long has Rhodey been a Skrull? I need to know!

Episode 5 - Harvest: Alright, this is getting crazy. I cannot wait for the finale. I wonder who Fury was on the phone with at the end of the episode. Maybe Captain Marvel? Monica Rambeau? Not sure yet, but Secret Invasion is looking to be one of the better Disney+ shows.

Episode 6 - Home: I don’t know how to feel about this finale. There are way too many unanswered questions. Like, the whole war on Skrulls started by President Ritson’s address. Like, when’s that coming into play? How long has Rhodey been a Skrull? I know this will probably be answered in Armor Wars, but for all we know, it could be another 2+ years until that comes out. He's in a hospital gown in the finale, similar to the one he wore in Captain America: Civil War, following his injury during the airport battle. This has led many to think Rhodey has been a Skrull this since Civil War. That would mean he’s been a Skrull during Infinity War and Endgame! I’m totally into that idea, cause then that takes away from Rhodey’s moments in both of these films. Especially Tony’s funeral. How long has Ross been a Skrull? I don’t really have any clue for this one, so I hope that’s answered in the near future. Lastly, will it ever come back into play that G’iah is now the most powerful person in the entire universe? Like, what just happened?! She’s stronger than Captain Marvel! This show had that happen like it was no big deal. The finale wasn’t great, however the show was enjoyable at times. I don't like that so much was left unresolved, but at least there's now something to look forward to. I have updated my MCU ranking blog, so if you’re wanting to know where I ranked it, go check it out!

Deadpool 3 News

This month, pictures revealing Deadpool's newest suit AND Hugh Jackman's first time in the classic yellow and blue have been revealed. I love both of their suits. The vibrancy is so cool. This is such a great look for Wolverine, I am so happy they went with the classic suit. We also have gotten details of Jennifer Garner returning as Elektra. This makes more sense with the fact they're including Affleck's Daredevil. This movie seems to be a tribute to all of the 20th Century Fox Marvel properties. There was even a picture of the set where there was a destroyed version of the 20th Century logo. People are speculating that the destroyed version of the logo might be a part of the Void we saw in Loki. Here it is below:

News also came out this month that the production of Deadpool 3 has shut down due to the Actors’ Strike. Actors are teaming with Hollywood writers for fair wages. This will probably mean Deadpool 3 cannot meet its May 3 release date, and it will be delayed.

Superman: Legacy Casting

James Gunn has casted three more actors for Superman: Legacy. We already know David Corenswet will be playing Superman, and Rachel Brosnahan will be playing Lois Lane. Now we know that Nathan Fillion will be playing Guy Gardner, who is a Green Lantern, Isabela Merced will play Hawkgirl, and Edi Gathegi will be playing Mister Terrific. Nathan Fillion has made appearances in several James Gunn films, including Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, and The Suicide Squad. Isabela Merced played Dora in 2019’s Dora and the Lost City of Gold. Lastly, Edi Gathegi played Darwin in 2011’s X-Men: First Class. I love that James Gunn is having the DCU take place in a universe with plenty of existing heroes, because then there won’t have to be tons of origin stories. This cast is already looking stacked, and I can’t wait.

Blue Beetle Final Trailer Thoughts

This trailer gives me the same feeling as the other one did: this looks like a fun movie. It looks a little generic, but I don't think that'll stop it from putting a smile on my face. Nothing stands out in particular, but I know I'm going to have a ticket to my theater August 18 to watch this!

Venom 3 News

Similar to Deadpool 3, Venom 3 has shut down production as well. Many films all across Hollywood have been shutting down due to the Actors’ Strike. More news about this film is featured later in this blog.

Captain America: Brave New World is Wrapped!

Seeing how Deadpool 3 has shut down its production, this has MCU fans worried about other films. So it’s nice to know that it seems like Captain America: Brave New World is in the clear. I don’t know the details on this Actors’ Strike, but that hopefully means the movie won’t get shut down in post-production. Keep in mind, a movie shutting down does not mean it’s cancelled, it only means the production is temporarily postponed.

Disney Cutback Plans

Disney CEO Bob Iger spoke about their plans to cutback on how much they’re spending on their Marvel and Star Wars content. This means that they’re focusing on quality over quantity. They’re going to stop spending so much money on new projects, and instead spend less money by creating less content. Although this doesn’t sound good at first, with it sounding as if they’re going to put less effort into their projects, that’s not the case, as they’re only going to put their focus on a fewer amount of projects, which means they won’t be spending nearly as much money as they already are.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 on Disney+

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, the latest MCU film, will be streaming on Disney+ tomorrow, August 2.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 on Disney+

In April and May, Disney+ added six Sony Spider-Man films: the Tobey trilogy, TASM 1, Homecoming, and Venom. And now, on August 11, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will be streaming on Disney+. That leaves the Spider-Verse movies, Far From Home, No Way Home, Venom 2, and Morbius in question as to when they will be added to the service.

The Marvels Trailer

This trailer gives off very similar vibes to the first one, they're not much different, however in this one there's a little more explanation as to the plot of the movie. I'm not expecting this to be amazing, but I can already tell it's gonna be better than the first Captain Marvel. I'm looking forward to seeing this in theaters on November 10.

San Diego Comic Con 2023

Okay, well, there was absolutely nothing. I knew Marvel wasn't hosting a Hall H panel (Hall H is the huge room where they presented the Phase Five slate last year), but I had no idea their presence was going to be this little! I remember last summer waiting eagerly those few days for Marvel Studios' exciting announcements. But this year, there was practically nothing. Attendees were able to see exclusive footage from X-Men '97. That's it. I think The Marvels trailer might've been a part of comic con, but that's not anything crazy. DC didn't really have much either. I heard something about a new animated Watchmen movie and a new animated Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths. Apparently it's part of the Tomorrowverse? Whatever that is... There was no news about the DCU. I know there were huge announcements about the Spider-Man 2 PS5 game, but I've never played Spider-Man, so I don't really know much about it. I haven't developed any kind of interest for these games since I don't have a PlayStation. I hope SDCC 2024 can be more exciting. And I believe D23 is returning this year in September, so maybe there'll be some Marvel news there too.

Major Sony Delays & Announcements

There have been several disappointing pieces of news this month for Sony's Marvel films. There have been release updates for four of their upcoming films. The Kraven the Hunter movie was set to release on October 6, but has now been delayed by a year to August 30, 2024. I think this is completely ridiculous. The movie is already completed. The post-production process has already ended. This movie was set to release in just two months. But it was delayed? By a year? I would've understood moving it to El Muerto's original release date spot of January 12, but it just seems so unusual that they would delay a completed film by eleven months. The next piece of news is that Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse has been delayed indefinitely. This makes sense since it's been said that this movie has barely made any progress since Across the Spider-Verse's release, so I'm not really shocked with this one. This movie was supposed to release March 29, but it's release is unknown. Third piece of news is the release date for Venom 3. Venom 3 is set to release in theaters July 12, 2024. Previous reports stated that the movie would release in October of 2024, but apparently that's changed. I can't wrap my brain around the fact that Venom 3 is going to release before Kraven the Hunter. Lastly, the Madame Web movie has been moved up two days. It's initial release date was February 16, 2024, but now it is set to release on February 14. For all of you disappointed by these Sony announcements, buckle up, because chances are, Disney is probably next (despite having already delayed several of their films).

Loki: Season 2 Trailer

Let’s go! I’m so excited for Season 2, and this trailer added to it! I am super curious as to how the series will pick up after Season 1’s cliffhanger, and then its transition into this season. They didn’t show much of Kang in the trailer, but I’m wanting to know how much he’s in this show. I think this time slipping concept that Loki is going through sounds interesting, and I’m wondering how that started. I’m super stoked for this series, and this trailer has definitely sparked several curiosities.

Thank You!

Thank you for taking time out of your day to read this month's CQMB. Be sure to stay tuned for the next CQMB which will release on the first of September.

Loki will be great I'm sure! Marvels will be...good? I don't really have an opinion on it, I feel like it might just be another generic movie. Great as always!

I'm a little worried cuz the director of The Marvels said the movie was going to be wacky and silly- which was kind of the problem with Thor: Love and Thunder. I'm not sure what to expect with that project.

Ah, I think Marvel needs to take inspiration from Ragnarok or Guardians. It has great humor but balances it with a good plot. Its not all humor if that makes sense.
