Divisional Round Recap

1. The first game of the divisional round was on Saturday, between the Houston Texans and Baltimore Ravens. The Texans were coming off a dominant wild card win against the Browns, while the Ravens are coming off a well-deserved bye week. The game opened up pretty even, as the score was 10-10 at halftime. However, the second half turned into a dominant performance by the Ravens, with them ultimately winning 34-10. CJ Stroud was just not able to get anything going offensively, and the Ravens took full advantage.

2. The second game was between the Green Bay Packers and the San Francisco 49ers. The packers came into the game as heavy underdogs, but made the game a lot closer than expected, even holding a 21-14 lead at the end of the 3rd quarter. However, the 49ers were able to score when they needed to, and ultimately edged out the packers 24-21.

3. The first divisional game on Sunday was between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Detroit Lions. Overall, it was a pretty standard game, as the Lions won 31-23. It was close at times, but the lions were ultimately able to get the job done.

4. The last game was the highly-anticipated matchup between Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs going against Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills. The game was a shootout for the offenses when it first started, but the fourth quarter was a shootout between the defenses. A costly missed field goal by Bills kicker Tyler Bass is ultimately what concluded the game, and the Chiefs won 27-24.

Conference Championship

The conference championship matchups have been set!

The AFC championship will be between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, January 28 at 3:00 PM ET

The NFC championship will be between the Detroit Lions and the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, January 28 at 6:30 PM ET

Couple of notes before the games

This is the first time the Ravens have hosted the AFC championship game in their franchise history

This is also Lamar Jackson's first AFC championship game

This is the first time Patrick Mahomes has played the AFC championship game on the road

It's also his 6th consecutive time playing in an AFC championship game, as he's made it there every year he's started.

This will be the first time since the 2017-18 season that the AFC championship game will not be played at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City.

Taylor Swift will probably be at the game...

This is the first time since 1991 that the Detroit Lions are appearing in an NFC championship game.

This is the 49ers' third consecutive NFC championship game appearance, but their first at home since 2019.

Jared Goff is one of only few quarterbacks to go to the conference championship game with multiple teams (he did it in 2018 with the Rams).

Predictions!

The AFC championship I think will be the closer of the two games, and I think the Kansas City Chiefs will edge out the ravens.

The NFC championship should be a good game as well, but I think that fundamentally, the 49ers are a better, more complete football team, and I think they'll beat the lions.

But what do you think? If you disagree, what do you think the Super Bowl matchup will be? Who are you rooting for?
