Population of Worcestershire

The population of the English county of Worcestershire has increased fourfold since 1801. However, along the way, there has been some large increases and decreases, including in 1971 and 2001.

There was no census in 1941, due to World War II.

Interesting, did WWI have something to do with the first major decrease?

I believe that WWI would have played a huge part in this decrease of population by the 1921 census. But also, the borders of Worcestershire have changed a lot in the past 150 years. Towns and districts would be given to other counties (and, especially with its close proximity to the city, Birmingham). Just after the 1911 census, the King's Norton and Northfield Urban District was absorbed by Birmingham, which meant Worcestershire's population decreased by a significant 80,000 people.
