In the North of England 'Clogs' or wooden shoes were used in some jobs in the 'good old days'. especially when working in wet conditions. The whole shoe is not wood however, just a deep wooden sole with leather top parts.

A country beginning with N where fjords are found. Almost typed in New Zealand, as that would be a valid answer (but subsequently upsetting the chain) - NZ even has a national park with "fjord" in the name (although spelled fiord) (of course, common sense would kick in once New Zealand was not accepted as the correct answer).

"Where wooden shoes are celebrated" really? I think it is the other countries that do that, coming to the netherlands and buying all kinds of touristsy crap err I mean souvenirs with clogs and tullips.

you make it sound like it is of our present day culture, and we throw clog parties. And have a special day for it etc. I think most people go through life without ever thinking about it once, besides when it is mentioned by foreigners. (Or when you are in amsterdam where there is a souvenir shop every 50meters..)

I guess you cóuld say has become known for. Clogs were used in many countries. And well all countries had different footwear at one point in time, cause obviously there were no sneaker factories yet ;)
