Damn. After Innsbruck I was thinking Garmisch-Partenkirchen, because of the ski jump competition around New Year's. Then I thought, yeah it was ski jump, not olympics. So didn't enter that. Also spelling "Sochi" is impossible, because here they spell it "Sotsi" and I keep trying to spell it in "English" with a "t".
Yup. There's just no other way to spell Garmisch-Partenkirchen and make it sound the same. Sochi on the other hand.. English has so many alternative spellings for the same sounds!
But if Munich got a winter bid, I think most of the actual "snow" events would have to be conducted down in the Garmisch area. Somebody can correct me if there are ski slopes, etc. in the local Munich neighborhood.
I'm pretty surprised that the IOC went for mountain sports on artificial snow. In 2015, there was no snow at all on the proposed slopes. Unless 2022 experiences freakish snowfall, they are going to truck in or manufacture every flake. Seems insane.
First you have to have a group of people put in the position to choose a winner. Then you have to look after those people when they arrive to check on your facilities. Then you have to make sure that they will be looked after when they head off back to vote. You then have to make sure you can reward those people after the decision has been made. Lastly you have to keep your mouth shut regarding your dealings and more importantly be trusted by those people to keep your mouth shut.
I had no idea where the 2022 Winter Olympics will be held, so I guessed Qatar, since that makes about as much sense as having the World Cup played there.
I only got Vancouver and Sochi because of the Mario and Sonic games. In fact, the only places I know that Olympic Games were held are the ones that have Mario and Sonic games
