Might be because of its Oil, never even though in dream that Luanda can be expensive.

Both are capitals of Bolivia, so why shouldn't both be in?

Just because both could be consitered as capitals, doesn't mean that BOTH are actual capitals. Especially in quizzes like this.

Luanda is the 4th most expensive Capital? WHAAAAA?

I looked it up. Long story short, Westerners are moving there to chase oil money and are "demanding" rapid westernization of the city.

The price hike is due to the massive price tags for security on importing goods. And the large number of expats moving to Luanda and driving up the demand. Thus buying a fast food hamburger is $32, and an apartment is $7,500 a month.

By "demanding", I mean they're demanding with their wallets. They're willing to pay large sums of money for familiar Western items

The $7,500/month rent for Luanda is nothing compared to the rents in New York City.

I even read some years ago on a respectable British newspaper (can't remember which one) that it was the most expensive in the world. TinklePort brilliantly exposed some of the odd reasons that causes this. This is one of the most uncanny example of extreme disparity between a place and the rest of its country you could ever encounter.

I agree that Luanda is high up there as being the most expensive for expats, but that’s a long leap from being amongst the most expensive overall.

Sucre and La Paz, same country. You should have made a choice. Once one answers La Paz or Sucre, one assumes this is it for Bolivia and one looks for another country...

I thought Mexico City's urban area is definitely in the top 5 of the most populous capital cities? Am I mistaken?
