Surely you should accept Marvolo for Marvolo Gaunt?

And some of them aren't the former owner, they're the first owner.

No, because "Riddle" comes from Voldemort's dad who was a Muggle. Marvolo is his mum's dad

Changed it to "original owner" and Marvolo will work now. Thanks!

As the stone it was a Deathly Hallow, but as the ring, it belonged to Gaunt.

Level 28

The ring wasn't one of the Hallows, though it is likely that it belonged to Cadmus Peverell as he was the owner of the stone and Marvolo says the crest of the Peverell family is engraved to the ring - which is his proof to be a pureblood.

So you could put Cadmus, though I agree that Marvolo ist the first one who comes to mind, so it is utterly okay tha way it is.

Marvolo Riddle however, as jmaddog waned to put it, is utterly wrong.

Thank you for a nice guiz!

No, the ring is not one and/or the stone is not a hallow. The hallow was within the golden snitch, remember?? Harry opened it as the snitch had 'flesh memory'.

op4eva - The Resurrection Stone was one of the Deathly Hallows (along with the invisibility cloak and the Elder Wand.) The stone was set into a ring that was eventually handed down to Morfin Gaunt, Voldemort's uncle. Voldemort stole it off Gaunt (and framed Gaunt for the murder of the rest of their family), and eventually turned it into a horcrux, put a protective curse on it, and hid it. Dumbledore later tracked it down and destroyed it as a horcrux, but the curse was slowly killing him. Before he died, he hid the stone inside Harry's first golden snitch, where Harry found it "at the close."

The reason why Dumbledore got the curse was because he touched the horcrux with his bare hands, wanting to use it as a hallow (to bring back dead relatives or strong memories of them, presumably Ariana in particular). But because Voldemort has put a curse on it for it being his horcrux, Dumbledore got it and would have died from it if he hadn't got Snape to kill him first.

Also, how about "crown" for Diadem
+4
Level 33
Jan 19, 2013
They never refer to it as a crown (except when cho chang explains what a diadem is to ron), at least in the movie(s)
+4
Level 50
Jun 15, 2015
it is referred to as a tiara in the book, though a diadem is the proper term.

You should definitely accept Marvolo for Marvolo Gaunt, and goblet is a good idea too. However it is not a crown, it's a diadem; that's the only way it's referred to in the book, never a crown. They're two different things.

Could you also accept chalice for cup? It was the only way I could think of it for a long time. Amazing quiz though. I really enjoyed it.

You have original owners and former owners as answers. Marvolo Gaunt's ring was originally Slytherin's and the cup's (goblet) owner was Hepzibah Smith.

Who owned Riddle's diary, possession is ownership, with the exception of Malfoy who was a caretaker for Voldemort (owner) then both Ginny and Harry owned the diary when they possessed it.

Yes, but though Hepzibah had the cup and locket, it's original owners were Hufflepuff and Slytherin respectively, who had both died by then. Hepzibah also claimed to be a descendent of Hufflepuff herself.

Thats wrong the ring originally belonged to the peverell brothers because the ring was a hallow before a horcrux :(

Also, the Peverell brothers aren't even confirmed to be real, they're part of a children's story book, but in the notes Dumbledore speculates if the creator had merely heard of these objects of power and therefore made the story.

great quiz, no complaints as all answers are obvious if you dont think to much into them. Diary always reffered to as Riddles diary, each hogwarts founder (except gryfindor) had a possesion made into a horcrux, nagini and harry are obvious, the only difficult one really was Marvolo Gaunt but a true potter fan should know. Maybe accept snake for Nagini for those...less educated...potter fans.

I was hoping at the end that Lucius Malfoy would find out his mother was a Malfoy servant who switched him at birth with the real Malfoy baby to give him a better life, and therefore Lucius was really a muggle and Draco was a half-blood.

I think there should be two owners for some of these. Cadmus Peverell was the first owner of the resurrection stone (the ring) because he made it. The cup and the locket were owned by Hepzibah Smith as well. The diadem was also taken by Helena Ravenclaw. The diary was owned by Lucius Malfoy. I know that it says ORIGINAL owner, but I think both owners should be used.

For all those people out there saying Cadmus Peverell owned the ring first, you're probably wrong as

A) we don't know Cadmus even owned the ring, it could've been owned by anyone of his descendants. All we know is that Cadmus owned the stone.

B) In the book, Voldemort took the ring off his uncle Morfin, who was given it by Marvolo. Everything in-between Marvolo and Cadmus is nonexistent. So Marvolo is the original owner IN THE BOOK
