I love this presentation of metro areas, with the full area of the metro showing the extent geographically instead of just a dot. Very well made!!

Except out West where huge swaths of desert are included within county borders, resulting in metro areas in So Cal, Nevada, Utah and Arizona being greatly exaggerated.

It's hard to blame the census bureau when they themselves said "Metropolitan Statistical Areas are not designed as a general-purpose geographic framework for use in nonstatistical activities" but like, wow! They sure weren't designed as a general-purpose geographic framework for use in nonstatistical activities
