Aral Sea had been shrinking and filling throughout of its history so you can't blame Soviets for doing it. Still, Uzbekistan is much more responsible for shrinking the lake
I've done a bit of research since you wrote this message and found multiple articles explaining the main cause of the shrinking of the Aral Sea. In order to improve agriculture in the Soviet Union, Stalin launched the Great Plan for the Transformation of Nature. The USSR turned lands of the Uzbek SSR into cotton plantations and ordered the construction of irrigation canals to provide water to the crops in the middle of the plateau of the region. The Soviet Union moved water from the Anu Darya and Syr Darya rivers, the same rivers that fed the freshwater into the Aral Sea. This worked until the Soviets decided to move more water from these rivers, suddenly draining the Aral Sea.
So the USSR was definitely responsible for a big part of the shrinkage of the sea, but obviously the now independent state of Uzbekistan is also to blame, as they have continued this practice without paying any attention to the Aral Sea itself
"to declare independence*" rather than independency, which is not a word.
also you should accept 6th for sixth and possibly Heilongjiang for Amur.
for the mountain question, I think "The highest mountain in the USSR, now located in Tajikistan" is a cleaner phrasing, although I personally understood it anyways.
and I would say "In what country is* the Soviet spaceport located", since the country it was located in was the USSR, again, just makes it more clear.
other than those, cool quiz. I'm a fan of some questions like first to declare independence or country of the Soviet spaceport, which seem pretty natural but are maybe not as widely known. Could do without the Chernobyl questions, as that feels like it's been done a million times, but it's your quiz.
Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it. I'm not a native English speaker so the phrasing can be a little bit strange. I've changed the wording of some of the questions to have a cleaner phrasing. Fun fact, 'independency' is a word, but it's definitely not supposed to be used like I did, so I've changed it.
The quiz should also accept 6th and Heilongjiang now as answers, although I doubt Heilongjiang will be used more frequent than Amur.
I tried to make the quiz enjoyable but not too hard, that's why I've added some of the easier questions like the Chernobyl one. I know it's a question that's been done a lot, but I tried to level it out with the more difficult questions thereafter.
