Well Grayson Perry is a transvestite but not transgender, so there's a distinction. A Drag Queen is usually transvestite only for their career, not necessarily as a general lifestyle. Dorothy Lawrence was only a facultative transvestite to be taken more seriously by the military, but we don't know enough about Joan of Arc to make that distinction. Labels can be very inane, but it is still important to distinguish gender expression from gender identity. x
