I added the "date" column to this quiz. The dates for China and India are very approximate. The Russian Empire attained a population of 100 million in the 1800's, but the part that is currently Russia didn't reach 100 million until 1930.
Egypt is a country that is coming very close to 100 million people. There are 104 million Egyptians worldwide but 9 million of those live outside the country. Whatever the number, Egypt is definitely going to be the next country on this list.
Vietnam has a net growth of 0.9m and dropping, and congo of 2.8m and rising. I think congo will beat them (if things continue on the same trend, no wars etc)
Almost forgot Japan. Of course, if current trends continue, Japan could become the first country to fall off this list, though not for another couple decades at least.
I missed India, once again because it was an answer I thought I had already typed. Note to brain: Make sure the fingers have finished before you move on to the next answer.
Dont think you have used the same (in my opinion very accurate, in contrast with other sources sometimes used for quizzes, which use outdated data or are rough estimates) source as this quiz. Vietnam is currently (March 22, 2020) 97.097.000 and in 2019 (I think that is midyear) it was 96.462.000
estimate for midyear 2020 is 97.339.000 and in 2025 is it over the 100m threshold with 101.107.000 (I rounded all numbers to 1.000)
So either you were a year ahead of time or made a 96/97 typo ;)
Congo actually seems to be next in line, currently 88.794.000, but it grows faster, estimated to be 104.134.000 so 3 millions more than vietnam, probably reaching it a year earlier than them.
2016 data is here
