Where the origin of a term is disputed, it may still be included, and so 'naming after' may not be true in the literal sense.

What about Russia? Ruthenium is named after the latin name of Russia, Ruthenia. Also you could include Indium, even if it is named after the colour indigo, which in turn is named after India.
