If Football Clubs Had Flags

Imagine that football clubs, like countries, adopted an official flag, which was full of symbolism and other representation. I have designed flags for sixteen clubs from across the world. See if you can guess the club from the flag!

This was really good!

Took me a bit longer to work out a couple of the answers but I got them eventually by thinking more about the colours used.

I like the subtleties such as the circle/ring with 20 sides to represent the 20 championships won by one of the teams, along with the stars to denote their three major continental titles.

And the inclusion of the flags of Qatar and Russia was amusing!

Thanks Hinckford as always!

I'm honestly impressed that you even noticed the icosagon (20-sided shape) reference!

Funnily enough, someone on the French version of this quiz suggested that the Russian flags should be American flags - for anyone else that isn't sure, they're not to denote Chelsea's current ownership, but rather the fact that they won their two Champions Leagues (hence why there are two balls) and, let's face it, everything else since 2003, because of Roman Abramovich's ownership.

Marseille should be droit au but right? Instead of drecht

It depends on what you mean by "should". You're right in saying that the OM motto is Droit au but, which is French. However, for this quiz, I used the Occitan version (as per the Occitan language Wikipedia page), because that's the historical language of the city/region. It was purely to add another subtlety (as Hinckford so neatly put it) to the flag.

P.S. I'm fluent in French, so it's not something I would have done by mistake 😉
