Had this planned a few months ago along with the Ottoman era Palestine quiz, though decided to push it back due to excalation of the war in Gaza. Population figures were pulled from the official 1922 census of Mandatory Palestine.

Crazy how low all these populations were just a hundred years ago. Biggest cities with 60,000 and 20,000 while today they have multiple cities well on their way to a million inhabitants

Yep. A city of 100,000 was considered huge for a large part of history. Though in this case, historical Palestine had become a sparsely populated backwater for the longest time, especially under late Ottoman rule.
