Ooof. Enjoyable quiz in general, but there are a lot of type-ins that I hope you could consider accepting. As a non-Australian, I feel like I “got” a lot of these but my answers weren’t accepted, and I don’t know if there’s an actual good reason why my answer is wrong (i.e.: an Australian wouldn’t consider it a valid alternative) or just a type-in that wasn’t anticipated.

Some things I tried:

● “backpack” for Matilda (vs “swag”)

● “rugby” for the State of Origin (this one I can understand considering rugby ≠ rugby league - arguably my bad for not thinking hard enough)

● “undershirt” (or “underwear”?) for the Wiggles (debatable - I imagine “skivvies” is maybe a universally recognized term in Australia? Albeit not elsewhere...)

● “12 apostles” for the Victoria landmarks (vs “twelve apostles”)

● “Ned Kelly’s Gang” for the bushrangers (vs. “The Kelly Gang”)

● “Warner Brothers” for the US animation company (vs. “Warner Bros”)

● “gigantism” for the Tasmanian phenomenon (vs. “island gigantism” - maybe required specificity is fine)

● “8.75” or “8 3/4” (I tried so many things here) for the Eucla time zone (vs. “8:45”)

● “Darwin” for the capital of NT (vs. “Charles Darwin” - generally just the last name is sufficient on Jetpunk unless otherwise specified?)

Anyway. Like I said, an otherwise fun quiz, but a bit frustrating that so many answers weren’t accepted.

And again, part of the issue is that, as a non-Australian I often had some idea of the answer but wasn’t 100% certain. So when my answer wasn’t accepted, rather than trying variations of the same thing, I tended to just assume I was on the wrong track entirely, and went in a different direction (or gave up on the question).

An example being The Kelly Gang. Like: I totally knew what you were getting at, and that Ned Kelly was (obvs.) the leader. But when “Ned Kelly” and “Ned Kelly’s Gang” weren’t accepted, I just figured: “Oh. The gang itself must have had a totally different name that I don’t know,” and passed on the question. Lots of stuff like that.

Seconded. I had close misses on spelling like 'double t' in the poet's surname (with or without his nickname), missing apostrophe in Tasmania's name etc. A really great set of questions, so I'd love to nominate the quiz, but will wait to see if these niggles are sorted out! I'll be back...

Thanks for the feedback!

Will add backpack for Matilda

I'm gonna keep rugby league as IMO rugby usually means rugby union. I'll add a note to the question for people to be specific.

I dont think skivvies and undershirts are the same thing. I've included the alternate terms wikipedia lists. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polo_neck

yep will add 12 apostles as acceptable

have made it so typing Kelly anywhere will get you the points.

Warner Brothers should be accepted now

Gigantism anywhere will work now

I think I've got the regex right now on the timezone.

Not gonna accept Darwin by itself because the city is called Darwin and I want people to be able to guess that its named after Charles Darwin.

Again, thanks for the feedback!

Great, thanks! I think that improves it a lot (does for me anyway).

Looking over my comments from yesterday, they read a bit harsher than I'd intended them, so I apologize if I came off as overly-critical.

Anyway. Have nominated the quiz, as (other than my frustration WRT the type-ins) it was enjoyable!
