50 Longest Rivers in the World

Every time you guess an answer, you will be shown one letter from each of the 9 answers below (the 2nd letter of the answer below, the 3rd of the answer 2 places below etc). This means that reading 'diagonally' (going up-right, starting from the answer above the one you're looking for) letters of the same colour as the rank number you'll be able to get a good hint (but not the initial letter!).

In the previous version, you lapped around (e.g. for Ubangi you would put N M N S S O . .)

True but this time I thought you should manage to find the first one with no hints, the second with just one letter hint etc

I was a little confused by the fact that tributaries that are the farthest source of a system, such as the Missouri and Irtysh, are not considered, while other tributaries are. I realized this with about 1:15 left and then started typing tributaries as quickly as possible.

Yes, why are Purús and Madeira counted whereas Missouri is not?

The English Wikipedia list has terrible methodology. Some of the river lengths are grossly wrong (most importantly for Rio Tocantins which is 1000 km shorter, wrong lengths for Zambezi, Amu Darya, and Nelson also shuffle many positions), and it sometimes randomly includes tributaries while excluding them at other times, and at times goes by names rather than lengths. Rio Madeira, Rio Purus, Rio Japura and Rio Jurua are tributaries of the Amazon, Vilyuy and Aldan are tributaries of Lena, Ganges and Brahmaputra merge into the Padma–Meghna, the Lower Tunguska is a tributary of the Yenisei, Rio Araguaia of Rio Tocantins, Rio Paraguay of Rio Parana and Rio Pilcomayo of Paraguay–Parana, Katun of Ob, Ishim of Ob–Irtysh, Arkansas of Mississippi and Ubangi of Congo. The Orinoco should appear with over 3000 km, instead of Dnieper. The German Wikipedia list is much better with the main rivers, but its name-based semirandom tributary selection is still confusing.
