Marvel Studios' Special Presentation Announcements

Multiple announced TV series for Disney+ have a chance of being turned into a special presentation, after seeing the success of Werewolf By Night. Upcoming Special Presentations are The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, Nova (which was originally said to be a TV series), and it was recently confirmed there would be a Silver Surfer special presentation for Disney+. There is more news on The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special later in the blog.

Spider-Man 4 News

There have been a few updates regarding the upcoming Spider-Man 4, starring Tom Holland as Peter Parker. One is a rumored release date for this film, which is July 12, 2024. If this rumor is true, expect another delay for films like Thunderbolts and onwards. Another rumor is Daredevil will fight alongside Spider-Man in this film, similar to how he has had a partner of some sort in his previous movies. In Homecoming it was Iron Man, Far From Home it was Mysterio, and No Way Home it was Doctor Strange. Hopefully Sony will make this movie more grounded, and more of a classic fight in New York City, just like Garfield and Maguire's films.

Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania

The official trailer for Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania has been released, along with its new official poster, and it looks great. Kang the Conqueror has been shown to us, along with Cassie Lang's new suit, and the talented Kathryn Newton playing her, and it has shown us the world in the Quantum realm. This movie releases only in theaters on February 17, 2023.

The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special

The official trailer for The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special was released a day after the Quantumania trailer, and just like that trailer, this looks great. The trailer shows Drax and Mantis traveling to Earth to get presents for Peter Quill, who is down in the dumps because he is missing Gamora dearly. We get to see Baby Groot all grown up in this trailer, along with the Legendary Kevin Bacon. This trailer also gives us a first look at Cosmo the Spacedog, who will also be in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. This Special Presentation will be streaming on Disney+ on November 25, 2022.

Superman is Back!

In the post-credits scene of Black Adam, we see Black Adam having a virtual call with Amanda Waller, the organizer of The Suicide Squad. She mentions he cannot go and be reckless doing things, and when Black Adam responds asking, what will you do about it, Superman lands right by him and walks up to him. This wasn't like Shazam! where there was only a headless cameo. Henry Cavill returned for this post-credits scene cameo. The future of the DCEU is looking a little brighter seeing Ben Affleck returning in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, and Henry Cavill now back in Black Adam. Henry Cavill also made a social media post saying he wanted to make it official to the people that he is back as Superman.

Who is the Kevin Feige for the DCEU?

It has just recently been confirmed that for now, James Gunn will be running the DCEU, similar to how Kevin Feige is the head of Marvel Studios. Congrats, James Gunn, and we're looking forward for what you have to bring to this inconsistent franchise. This news also comes with an apparent rebranding for the DC Extended Universe, or DCEU. Reports state the franchise is changing to the DCU. At least that’s how James Gunn referred to it at a certain point in time.

Casting News

In this section, four casting announcements will be talked about. One being the recast of Ezra Miller as the Flash. Ezra Miller is facing possibly 26+ years in prison for his crimes, therefore, it is inevitable they are going to be recast, it was just a matter of who. Now we know. Actor George MacKay is reportedly one of the most likely options to be the recast of Ezra Miller. The second piece of casting news is that the long-rumored villain we all thought would appear in WandaVision, or The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, or Loki, or any MCU Disney+ show to premiere. That villain is, Mephisto. He is being played by none other than, King Julien himself, Sacha Baron Cohen. The third piece of confirmation is that it is official Harrison Ford will be the recast for the late William Hurt as Thunderbolt Ross in both Captain America: New World Order (2024) and Thunderbolts (2024). Finally, Aquaman star, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, the actor who played Black Manta, will be playing the title character in the Disney+ series, Wonder Man.

DC Plan & Announced Films

Following the Superman announcement, with Henry Cavill returning, there have been some reveals as to what DC is working on in terms of their apparent 10-year-plan. There is reportedly Man of Steel 2 and possibly 3 in production, along with some untitled James Gunn directed projects. There will also be spin-off films based off of characters from the universe of The Batman, as well as The Flash 2.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever - World Premiere

The world premiere for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever was on October 26, 2022. The live stream of the red carpet is available on the "Marvel Entertainment" YouTube channel. The reviews for the film are yet to be released, but based on the trailers and TV spots, I have a strong feeling this movie will be the best movie of the year. Top Gun: Maverick is at the top right now for me. Keep on the lookout for the reviews of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever on the Rotten Tomatoes website.

Vision Series Announced

A new Marvel Disney+ series was announced on October 28 with the working title of “Vision Quest.” This series reportedly has Paul Bettany returned to play Vision. This is the second WandaVision spin-off following the upcoming “Agatha: Coven of Chaos” series.

Until I heard rumors about it, I would have never thought of how good of a casting that would be. I imagine he'll do a great job!

Thanks for this, it's really useful with so many CBMs these days to have a periodic update with all the info concisely formatted together!

Didn't realise Ezra was facing that much in prison - definitely worth the recast then. And also didn't realise Holland was getting a 4th movie, very pleased about that!
