Rise and Fall: Chapter 3

This section of the blog talks about the rise of Rome and the fall of knowledge and culture in the Dark Ages. In ancient times, green was surprisingly not very popular in art as people preferred to use colours such as, blue, red and yellow.

Ancient Rome: Viridis was the Latin word for green. As we have learned from Pompeii, green was a much more used colour in Roman art such as, mosaics portraits and frescoes. Including this piece,

Roman art also showed much higher levels of detail and craftsmanship compared to older pieces. Green was finally getting the respect it deserved in Rome. But, all good things come to an end, in 476 A.D. barbarians raided Rome and only left Eastern Rome or Byzantium. Fun fact, your eyes can perceive  more shades of green than any other colour.

Dark Ages: In the dark ages, art and culture became very unpopular, well not quite, people probably just didn't have enough time as most people were servants or worked on farms for rich lords. They worked very long hours and by the time they had free time they were so tired they had to just sleep as soon as they got home, if they had one.

Anyway, I hope you liked this blog from, Conorsdad.
