Best and Worst Flags

In this first section, I'll be naming my 10 favorite international flags. Then section two will feature my 10 least favorite international flags. Section three will have the 5 best state flags, and finally section four will have the 5 worst state flags.

I'm looking for unique features in these flags. Stars and Stripes are a bit old fashion (no offense America). I'm looking for some cool symbols, and unique patterns.

This flag has some great features. First of all, the yellow on blue, is pretty nice. And the star pattern is great as well, but if it was in the middle this wouldn't be as good. The stripes are also a nice touch, and the pattern of white, red, white with large blue ones on the outside are great. Good patterns and great appeal.

St. Lucia has a unique blue in the background, which is one of the reasons I like the flag so much. It's almost an ocean blue (which figures because it's an island country in the Caribbean). The symbol in the middle is also pretty cool, and it's really what earned it it's #9 position. The isosceles triangle shape, with another triangle inside and the black-yellow-white combination really make this a great flag.

The U.K has the classic red-white-blue combination, and the plus and the x sign on top of each other. However, this normally wouldn't make a top 10 spot, but the way this flag has influenced others of my favorites like New Zealand and Australia is why it made the spot it did. The shade of dark blue is also pretty cool.

The D.R. Congo combines unique colors and patterns to make a hell of a flag. The blue and yellow, particularly the shade of blue combine to make a awesome flag. And the red stripe down the middle just adds on. Red-Yellow-Blue doesn't really work, but the shade of blue well makes up for that. And the star in the top left is great. The location of it is my final compliment.

The symbol in the middle, with the three vertical stripes. Period.

The pattern of three diamonds in the middle, with the green on yellow is fantastic. And the blue stripe on the side on the yellow adds a final sense of the ocean. And these factors combined make a great flag. A unique shape, with a larger stripe in the middle, and two smaller ones on the side. But the three diamonds in the middle! That's what makes this flag so great!

Maryland's flag may be ranked worst by many, but I find it great because it's so unique. The yellow and black squares next to the red and white squares may not appeal to many, but I find it a great way to express the state of Maryland.

Now before, this flag was the worst. But now the red and yellow stripes on the side, white the blue background are unique. And the middle represent Mississippi. 20 stars, for the 20th state. The magnolia and the motto of the United States. All these combine to make a hell of a flag.

Hope! What a brilliant flag. The yellow stars represent the 13th state. The anchor, the impact that the sea has on the state. And because of the yellow and white, that really makes the blue part of Hope stand out.

This flag is just fantastic. The contrast but similarities between the colors and the stars and stripes make it an ideal flag. #TarHeelState

I won't bore you with the details but the simple fact that states with a blue background and a seal or symbol on the front is cheap and un-creative (no offense)!
