Band Instruments: My Thoughts
Band Instruments
I do not like band instruments. Well, to be fair, secondhand ones and rented ones at least. When a person plays a "band instrument", which is, in my definition, a woodwind or brass instrument, you have to put your mouth on there. I think you already know where this is going just by the word " mouth". If you like band instruments, I respect your opinion, and I am not stopping you from having an opinion, and these are just my thoughts. But who knows what people put their mouth on that? Who knows what nasty germs their spit may have? Unless it is a newly made instrument and no one has played it, I would not play a band instrument, even if you gave me a million dollars.
Orchestra Instruments
My definition of an orchestra instrument is a string instrument. So basically (in order of size from small to big), violin, viola, cello, bass and harp. Sure, you put your hands on there, but at least you can WASH your hands. You can't wash your spit, and even if you wash your mouth, and don't spit, it still weirds me out. Only actual downside, your arms. If you don't lift weights often or have great fine motor skills, like me, then playing a violin or any string instrument (except harp) is so tiring (for your arms and fingers)! Having to hold the bow in a certain way, moving your arm, holding the violin, sometimes standing... it's like being your arms are being put through **** when you play a violin.
Percussion Instruments
Pros:
Hitting stuff (not too hard)
Let me tell you a story.
While I was living in the Philippines, me and my dad were watching a basketball game between some "amateur" teams (I think like between companies or something, I don't really know), and you the drums that they bang when they go "DEFENSE! CLAP CLAP! DEFENSE! CLAP CLAP!", those, right? I hit it too hard and the stick burst right through the drum, and a hole was made on the drum's top. Now we know. A seven year old could burst a drumstick through a drum.
Cons:
I don't know, tired arms?
That's it, and good luck!
