Five Interesting Planets

+7

In case you missed the blurb…

In this blog, I’ll be telling you about the five most crazy planets in my opinion, and naming them!

55 Cancri e.  My Name: Carbon Planet

This planet was discovered in 2004 and is twice the size of earth.  It was discovered in Texas by Barbara McArthur.  It is amazingly made out of just diamonds and graphite, the stuff that you find in jewelry, and the stuff in pencils.  It orbits a G-type star similar to our sun.  It is located in the constellation Cancer.

HAT-P-7b.  My Name: Planet of Riches

This planet is located in the Cygnus constellation.  It was discovered by the HATNet Project.  On this planet, it rains rubies and sapphires!  Imagine just how rich you could get, if you managed to survive some serious concussions!

Compared with Jupiter

HD 189773b.  My Name: Ouch.

In 2005, this planet was discovered orbiting the star HD 189733.  It is 1000 degrees Celsius and rains glass.  Ouch.  This planet is only 63 light years away from earth, so it’s relatively easy to study.

Also Compared with Jupiter

GJ-504b.  My Name:  Planet Pink

I’m sure you’ve all heard of someone who likes pink.  Well, make sure next time you see them to tell them that there’s a whole planet that’s a magenta/pink planet out there!  In 2013 it was discovered by the Subaru Telescope in Hawaii.  It orbits a star called GJ 504.  It is also several times larger than Jupiter.  It is in the constellation Virgo and it is 57 light years away.

Pink.  Pink, Pink, Pink.

J1407b.  My Name: The Lord of the Rings

This planet is a lot like Saturn, except, well, let’s just say it has a LOT more Hula-hoops.  The planet was discovered by a team of astronomers in the Netherlands.  It has 30 rings, each of them tens of millions of kilometers in diameter.  It is much larger than Jupiter.

Just look at that tiny dot in the center

I hope you enjoyed this blog, and learned a few things about these otherworldly planets!

Interesting! Earth is definitely better than these planets lol. Should I draw flags for them as well? ;)

Speaking of flags, the voting is ending tomorrow. Vote quickly here! The results will be announced on 14th. Sorry, I promise I won't try to advertise after this.

In case someone forgot to vote. Nah, I'm not making flags for them. It won't have much appeal, will it?

Very interesting! Some of these planets are very strange lol. There's also one which you can add onto here that is entirely covered by a huge 20km-deep ocean and it's quite interesting :)

I saw that one looking through options, but chose not to include it. I might make a sequel, though.
