Positions

In hockey there are 6 Positions, yet you can minimize that to 4. The positions are Right Wing, Center, Left Wing, Right Defense, Left Defense and Goalie. Minimized to 4 positions, they are: Wing, Defense, Goalie, and Center.

Wings

Wings, at any face-off are next to the center. They should stick to their side of the ice. They are offense. In the Defensive zone they help Defense clear the puck and in the Offensive zone they try to score.

Center

The center is on the dot in the middle of the face-off and helps out on offense and defense. They can go anywhere. When near their goalie, in their defensive zone they usually get passed to and take it up near the other team’s goalie, in their offensive zone, they try to score.

Defense

Defense is usually about a yard away from the wing in front of them. They have sides as well. When near their goalie, in their defensive zone they get the puck out. When near the other team’s goalie, in their offensive zone, the keep the puck in.

Goalie

The goalie is always out unless the coach pulls the goalie. They always try to stop the other team from scoring, which can fail.
