Yes. The HIV epidemic didn't have anything to do with Zimbabwe's independence. Although I'm sure Zimbabwe's terrible and corrupt government didn't help the problem.

It's not like the government of Zimbabwe is producing detailed statistics. So the life expectancy is just estimated by outside groups, which explains the smooth curve.

You would live 44 years in 2002 in zimbabwe, 64 years in 1994 in russia,69 years in 1960 in U.S. and 67 years in 1960 in japan

If you're explaining the lowest life expectancy in the countries, then Zimbabwe reaches 43 years in 2004. Just wanted to point that out

Huh from 1992 to 1993 only Japan's life expectancy increased. It also has the highest out of all 4 countries.
