Almost no cities on it. Near the sea it's too big and away from the sea it's too remote.

Manaus comes very close though, with a bridge just a couple of kilometres away crossing the Rio Negro tributary.

There is very little stable ground in which to anchor a bridge. It wouldn't be long before the bridge was washed away by the immense flow of the river.
