The entire state of Wyoming only has two escalators.

In 2012, Liechtensteiners voted on whether to abolish the Prince's right to veto any popular initiative. In a landslide victory, the citizens voted to keep the status quo. They really seem to have confidence in their monarch.

Don't eat bats. Ebola, SARS, Marburg virus, and possibly Covid-19 are all thought to have originally come from bats.

During WWII, 33% of American prisoners of war who fell into Japanese hands did not survive the end of the war. This compares to just 1.19% who died being held by the Germans.

According to a Gallup poll, at the height of the "hippie" movement in 1969 only 4% of Americans had ever tried marijuana.
POW survival rates in WWII varied by huge amounts. The worst off were Soviets captured by the Germans, who died in vast numbers, and even when they were freed after the war were often executed or sent to labor camps by their own government for the "crime" of surrendering.
At the other extreme, 99.97% of Germans captured by the British survived to the end of the war.
I wonder what the percentage is for Germans captured by the Canadians. I heard that they were treated so well, many refused to leave Canada at the end of the war. Something like that.
German POWs sent to the US liked it so much--it was so huge and people were so friendly in the South they brought sandwiches to prisoners at train stations/stops--many returned legally through the immigration processes after the war to become Americans.
Russian prisoners who were liberated and brought to the US prior to the war's end rioted when they were told they were being sent back to Russia. They were then fed soup that was drugged to make them sleep. When they awoke their ship was at sea and the prisoners were under heavy guard.
Might want to change "coronavirus" to "COVID-19." I realize now they're basically synonymous but SARS is also technically a coronavirus so calling it COVID is more accurate.
@mightythor. That article is engaging in sophistry. The claim appears to be "people didn't get Coronavirus from eating bats, they got it from viruses mixing in places where bats were being sold for human consumption". If people never ate bats, there's a good chance we wouldn't be in this mess.
About 217: Wow! Such a vote of confidence! Guess there are many guys (not just politicians) all over the world that can only dream with that level of confidence.
About 218: Seriously, China seems like that SpongeBob meme of the old man ("How many times do we have to teach you this lesson, old man?")
IIRC, they only voted yes because the royals have so much wealth in the country, that taking it from the businesses would be disastrous for the economy.
Corona viruses have indeed been around a long, long time to anyone paying attention. Lysol has been advertising for years it kills corona virus on contact. "No cure for the common cold" can be partly attributed to a major cause of the common cold, corona virus. Just because people are acting like they've never heard of it before...well they have, thousands of times. They just don't remember, like adults claiming "Well, they never taught us that in school..."
You don't have to eat a bat to contract a virus from it. It's often a third party that brings it to humans. That carrier may even be the one who makes it contagious for humans. The movie Contagion seems so real now.
For #420, probably not an accurate statement. In 1969, only 4% of Americans polled were willing to admit to a pollster that they had tried marijuana. Actual numbers would almost certainly be much higher than this.
At the other extreme, 99.97% of Germans captured by the British survived to the end of the war.

1. Canada has a town called Adanac, which is Canada spelled backwards
