Excellent quiz, as always. Can't wait to read all the comments :D
+10
Level 75

Totally agree. The comments are the best bit
+19
Level 78
Feb 1, 2023
Very nice! As always, this quiz contained at least one sentence I would have believed as true.
+6
Level 60
Feb 1, 2023
You spelled Uluru wrong
+7
Level 73
Feb 1, 2023
Uhuru is a peak on Kilimanjaro, that's what threw me off.
+11
Level 66
Apr 1, 2023
Everyone knows Uluru is really a character on Star Trek.
+5
Level 66
Feb 1, 2023
Time for another April Fools' Quiz… by this point so many people are in on the joke half the comments are just satire. Sadly, we have to wait until the first of April to get any genuine comments, it seems.

A couple suggestions for the next one:

- Which Russian tsar was executed when Soviets stormed the Winter Palace in 1917?

- What was the anthem of the Confederate States?

+1
Level 84
Feb 2, 2023
I've never heard anyone talk about the CSA's national anthem. What would be the (incorrect) answer? "Oh! Susanna"?

Level 88

Wait...is desert a typo (dessert), or is that part of the joke? Hard to tell on these quizzes! ;)
+3
Level 86
Feb 1, 2023
Ditto "Uhuru."
+4
Level 71
Feb 1, 2023
Also, "Noble Prize."
+8
Level 60
Feb 1, 2023
Dessert is misspelled on all of these quizzes - its a running joke.

Feb 1, 2023
So, often, is "it's".

Level 66
Feb 1, 2023
I assume you mean to put an em dash—even still, you haven't used it properly.
+6
Level 75
Apr 2, 2023
In a world where you have to choose your battles, how and when to use an em dash is never a good choice.

Never mind...I just looked back through some of the older April Fools' quizzes and remember now desert/dessert is a running joke! ;) Even this question is somewhat of a repeat from #3...

Level 27
Feb 1, 2023
Someone please explain to me why this is an “April Fool’s” quiz. I don’t get it.
+24
Level 76
Feb 1, 2023
All the answers are common misconceptions. None of them are actually true.
+1
Level 27
Feb 1, 2023
Ok, thank you!
+10
Level 85
Feb 1, 2023
It's cruel to make people think, even if only momentarily, that it's April 1st rather than February 1st!
+6
Level 85
Feb 1, 2023
Googling 1937 and "Trivial Pursuit" has been unhelpful in revealing what the joke is there. Little help?
+8
Level 95
Feb 1, 2023
The Trivial Pursuit editions are labeled "Genus" and the quiz uses "Genius" in its place.
+2
Level 75
Feb 5, 2023
True, but I'm pretty sure neither edition ("Genus" or "Genius") were released in 1937. Seems like there are two falsehoods in the clue. Isn't that a bit extreme?
+2
Level 77
Apr 1, 2023
Yeah, I totally get the Genus/Genius thing, but is there a common misconception that Trivial Pursuit was released in 1937?
+2
Level 69
Apr 1, 2023
Yeah, it was first made in 1979 and popularized in the 80s
+1
Level 66
Jun 16, 2023
If I had to guess, it's probably banking on people thinking the game is much older than it really is. I'm not sure why 1937 was chosen specifically, but it works just as well as, say, 1934.
+1
Level 66
Jun 16, 2023
I'll admit I thought the game was from the earlier half of the century. The cards at my local barbecue certainly look it, but perhaps that's more a testament to my skills than anything.
+35
Level 89
Feb 1, 2023
It'd be cool to have a blurb after the quiz for each answer showing why it's a misconception similar to the way multiple choice quizzes sometimes clarify the answer.
+5
Level 81
Feb 1, 2023
Wait a minute. Some of these aren’t right… :P
+4
Level 64
Feb 1, 2023
Would have been nice if Sonia Gandhi had been a type-in too!
+3
Level 89
Feb 2, 2023
Ivanka Gandhi has a nice ring to it.
+2
Level 59
Feb 1, 2023
I love these quizzes! I was a bit confused why it was published so early. Also maybe the title should be changed, to confuse more people.
+4
Level 77
Apr 1, 2023
It's always astonishing how many people are confused even with the title.
+4
Level 77
Feb 1, 2023
I think the most fun part of the quiz is trying to hurry through the quiz so we can get to the comments. Well done, as always
+1
Level 77
Feb 2, 2023
I know these are all commonly believed to be true, but did you mean to include two ruses with the Trivial Pursuit question (edition name and release date)? I believe the former would have been enough to suffice, based on the parameters of this quiz.
+4
Level 77
Apr 1, 2023
Yeah, and as far as I can tell there's no common misconception that Trivial Pursuit was released in 1937.
+2

Roe v Wade was overturned by the US Supreme Court meaning abortion rights were returned to the states. Abortion was not categorically banned in the US with this ruling. The media and bad actors mischaracterized this court decision for political purposes.

The abortion question is simply not in good taste. It comes across as saying, "Don't whine so much, it's not like they ACTUALLY outlawed it," when it of course has caused a huge amount of suffering with the restrictions it allows states to impose.
+8
Level 67
Apr 1, 2023
Agreed.
+16
Level 69
Apr 1, 2023
I agree. Most of the other questions concern popular misconceptions. This one just seems pedantic and mean-spirited.

Having said that, I don't love what I perceive to be the implications of the questions 1 and 8, as well, namely:

The Great Barrier Reef is fine (it absolutely is not, it's just not expected to disappear by 2030)

And that Russia doesn't interfere in foreign elections (they do, just didn't hack voting machines)

+7
Level 68
Apr 1, 2023
Agreed - this one does seem to have a political bent to it unbecoming of a good fooling.
+1
Level 76
Apr 18, 2023
I agree.

Level 67
Apr 1, 2023
*Kama* Sutra and *Supreme* Court are misspelled, not sure if that’s part of the bit or not.

Australia's tallest mountain is mount Kosciuszko in the NSW snowy mountains at 2283m on the mainland. The highest on Australian territory is Mawson's peak on Heard Island.

Indira Gandhi was the daughter of Nehru .

Indira Gandhi was not Mahatma Gandhi's daughter. Indira Gandhi was Nehu's daughter.
+18
Level 70
Apr 1, 2023
But all of the others are completely correct, right?

Level 78
Apr 1, 2023
It's also India, not Indira and Nero, not Nehru.

Level 65

I appreciate that "brioche" is accepted for "let them eat cake". It's indeed brioche in french, "gâteau" (cake) being a much more general term.
+1
Level 76
Mar 1, 2024
This is confusing, brioche is very very different from cake.

Edit: Just googled it. The french original is brioche. So "cake" is a really bad translation.

Level 66

Very impressive quizmaster, it always amuses me that there's a misconception about people misconceiving. It's like disinformation about disinformation, very meta.
+1
Level 70
Apr 1, 2023
Trivial Pursuit wasn't invented until 1979. And it's the Genus edition, not genius. Yeah, I don't get it either.

Thank you for correcting that one individual question that was inaccurate on this quiz.

Accept Sammael as a type-in for Lucifer, please? That is the name of the arch-angel that people confuse Lucifer with, of course.

I appreciate the touches like "Karma" Sutra, which I didn't notice at first. Really wasn't sure what were typos and what were deliberate quizmaster mistakes - but I guess they were all deliberate.
