As the capital of Madagascar, Antananarivo is actually a capital on an island in the Indian ocean. Colombo does not 100% fits in that description, since Kotte is the actual capital of Sri Lanka.
Hah I had no idea what you just said, looked up petard, still not any clearer haha. But now I found that is an actual saying, So I finally know what you meant :)
Depends who you ask. Technically it's "Sri Ja.... Kotte" (not going to try to spell it), which is a suburb of Colombo. So the question should probably be reworded, but Colombo isn't 100% wrong.
Yes, this is a long-standing point of contention on JetPunk, but our Quizmaster has generally favored "Kotte" as the capital of Sri Lanka rather than Colombo.
Not to pile on, but given Kotte is the accepted Sri Lankan capital on other quizzes, and because Antananarivo also fits that clue, it should really be changed.
Got several by just guessing cities for other clues. Haven't had the same problem as much with the other "cities that end with" quizzes. This one would benefit from a yellow box though.
I guessed Santiago first, too. That being said, it does not quite fit the clue; according to Wikipedia "Most of the city lies between 500 m (1,640 ft) and 650 m (2,133 ft) above mean sea level."
I'm surprised it's called a "major" American city. It's not a backwater outpost, but it comes in ranking 54th in GDP by metro area. To me, that's more of a AAA team than one that's playing in the big league.
Time to go to bed...
