The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is the official title of the sovereign state. "England is a country that is part of the United Kingdom.[6][7][8] It shares land borders with Scotland to the north and Wales to the west. The Irish Sea lies northwest of England and the Celtic Sea lies to the southwest. England is separated from continental Europe by the North Sea to the east and the English Channel to the south. The country covers five-eighths of the island of Great Britain (which lies in the North Atlantic) in its centre and south, and includes over 100 smaller named islands such as the Isles of Scilly and the Isle of Wight." -Wikipedia article for England

I know it is difficult for people of your superior intelligence to come to grips with such mundane problems, but the United Kingdom (known to us lesser gifted creatures as the UK) is the Sovereign Country. England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland (and other isles) are individual areas incorporated into the Sovereign Country UK. Citizens of these areas call these areas countries which is a loose term for localised district. An example that your overloaded grey matter may appreciate is that should Scotland for instance leave the UK they would become a Sovereign Country in their own right, leaving the rest of the area still known as UK.

If you can learn all the countries of the world, then when you see the letter, you go through all the continents, and think of the ones that start with "E". That is the best way to complete these quizzes.

England is a country, the UK is made of 4 countries England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. I am English not UKish. It also has its own flag, just like Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland have as they are also countries in their own right :) Thank you and Goodnight
