It is misattributed to Mark Twain. I don't remember who actually said it though.

It was also the name of an episode of the West Wing, which is how I always remember it :)

Twain didn't claim authorship of this witticism, but stated in his autobiography that Disraeli had said it. No evidence that Disraeli said it either, however, so maybe we should give the credit back to Twain after all. Lots of such witty sayings get attributed to Twain, just as older ones are given to Samuel Johnson and newer ones to Winston Churchill.

That one clue/answer should "cool, calm, and collected" IN THAT ORDER

I only knew Lock, Shock, and Barrel. (from The Nightmare Before Christmas) Technically, it is still a trio that fits the clue, so I feel as though it should also be accepted (as a write-in that corrects to Stock)

Some of these were the wrong way round. Or at least, according to common usage. (Cool, calm and collected, no shoes, no shirt, no service, bothered, bewitched and bewildered).

I have always heard it in the order "No shirt, no shoes, no service."

"Bewitched, Bothered, and Bewildered," is a song from the 1940s musical, "Pal Joey." Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett did it together a few years ago, It was sung on The Crown, and Sinatra's version was great, but no one can beat Ella Fitzgerald singing this song. Everyone should listen to it at least once in their lifetime. She was incredible.

Interesting to see the generation gap reflected in the stats.
