Really cool and creative...even though some answers would have worked (James Cameron, Dean Martin) you wouldn't have been able to complete the puzzle. Nice Work!

Let the names be used multiple times to allow for Dean Martin, James Cameron, etc. Then this would be a great setup. It got too easy as time went on due to elimination. I wouldn't have got 100% if not for that.

Maybe a nice idea for a quiz like this would be to include all of the valid combinations.
+1
Level 67

The way it's set up currently, it would be very complicated to do because then the other names left wouldn't match up. There can only be one pairing per name that works.

Sorry but this wasn't the best idea for a quiz. As many people have noted in the comments there were many valid combinations that were not accepted, and could not be because it would leave other names without a pair. Basically, to get everything you have to be lucky and happen to guess the combinations that the quiz maker had in mind when he made the quiz.

Strongly disagree. I enjoy the fact that it's a puzzle as much as it is trivia.

It doesnt make it a bad idea for a quiz. It is a very good idea. And you can debate wheter or not that other possibilities were there made it a worse quiz or not. But the idea itself is definitely good, and I didnt find the red herrings too offputting.

If a name doesnt work, you move on.

That's part of the puzzle isn't it? You have to guess the names that were already imagined. And if you allowed every possible combination to create any name, the list would be endless. Oh my God I am going to say it, they are almost all American personalities, shock horror. Many of the required pairs create people about whom I know nothing. I had never heard of Hank Aaron, Jason Alexander, any of the Tom Arnolds, Kirk Cameron or Dick Clark, this made the quiz a bit random.

Loved it, very fun to do! Possibly because I am a foreigner and know only the "big names" from the US, the first pairing I could think of for each name was always the "correct" one. Except for Bruce Wayne, which I had to type twice before I realized why it wasn't working, lol :).

Yea I got caught up on bruce wayne and james cameron. typed both more than once, first one after retyping for spelling I dismissed, because I figured, it is because it is fictional. But with james cameron, I was scrutinizing the spelling and doubting if he was who I thought he was, is he really james? suddenly I started to doubt myself...

The problem with this quiz is that there are several names you can make out of the pieces you're given that are "wrong" answers, even though they're perfectly legitimate. Dean Martin is as famous as anyone included in the quiz. Paul Ryan is US Speaker of the House right now, and makes the news on pretty much a weekly basis. These aren't wrong answers, they're just not the names you were thinking of. One possible fix would be to add those names and then put two of whichever name is used twice up in the answer key. As it is now, this quiz is little better than "guess what celebrity I'm thinking of right now."

You could see the multiple possibilities as a downside or challenge. But either way not much of a big deal.

(It would be if it was filled with mostly obscure ones and a lot of famous ones left out, but as it is I dont see a problem. john wayne and brucce lee instead of bruce wayne ( which is fictional anyway) is fine imo for example. Same goes for James dean + kirk cameron (though maybe less known, but paired with dean) Is good enough instead of james cameron.

It might be usefull though (to stop from further whining, atleast from those that actually read the description, either before playing or atleast before complaining) To add in the description. That there are many names possible combinations here but not all are given, So the name they have in mind might not always work
