I think society was better off when we all thought a Kardashian was a sweater. Please don't do anything to encourage any sort of attention to these people.
I don't really care about the Kardashians, but I feel like people hate them with the same vigor that others love them. I got 15 correct, and that didn't even reach the average for this quiz. So say you hate them all you want, but this family clearly occupies some fraction of your attention.
The saddest part of this quiz is realizing that everyone on it has exactly the same qualifications for being president as the guy currently in the oval office.
lool people on this site are really scared of knowing about modern celebrity culture, but will tell everyone and anyone when they get 100% on a quiz about monarchies
Maybe because we learn about monarchies while studying history, and we feel that knowledge was gained in a worthwhile pursuit of ideas. Celebrity or pop culture knowledge usually comes from watching TV, movies, reading magazines, or listening to music - all leisure pursuits - which maybe makes those of us instilled with tough work ethics feel guilty about how that knowledge was gained and we don't see how it could be usefully applied in any worthwhile way. (If we're being honest, probably in both instances learning about families who have made such big messes of their lives makes us feel better about the screw-ups in our own.)
I think I know most of these solely because they show up in so many headlines on yahoo or other news-aggregating sites. Even if you do not click on the articles, you will still remember the headlines, and this is where their true soft power lies. You see them on magazine covers at the grocery, on the TV in waiting rooms, you overhear annoying people talking about them, etc.
Being able to still broadcast yourselves widely through a society in which the majority of people wish they'd never heard of you is a pretty interesting form of soft power. Luckily for us, they use it to sell cosmetics rather than to run for president.
And most of the historical figures and older celebs that have been so romanticized, if you actually saw how they were in real life, are bigger scumbags than ANY of these pop culture figures that get roasted on here! The same people who chastise people who know the Kardashians and Justin Beiber and vilify them probably love John Wayne, Kirk Douglas, Marlon Brando and the myriad of other notorious racist, raping, abusing scumbags who are SO venerated. Honestly, tons of these older, "classic" celebs had WAY bigger, more sinister skeletons in their closets than the Kardashians.
I wish there were a video of the pitch meeting with the whole family in a conference room weighing in on the merits and drawbacks of filming their lives.
Well, personally I don't hate the whole family, just don't understand why they get so much publicity for contributing nothing to this world except getting a brutal killer off the hook.
Billy: no it wouldn't. It would be like taking "Kanye West" on a quiz where the answer populated as Ye... the former being the name that he was born with and first became famous and well known by. Or accepting Sean Combs or Puff Daddy for a clue about P Diddy, Puffy, or whatever the fudge his name currently is.
Is anyone familiar with the history/importance of the Kardashian family?
My knowledge is that:
Kim is the most famous, and famous for making a sex tape? I assume like Paris Hilton before her, and Pamela Anderson (I assume history repeats itself / this is just some planned way of getting famous)
There was a reality TV show.
One of them married Kanye West.
I don't really get, "why them?". I assume they had friends/family/connections in the media empire. I assume they return the favor by using their influence in alignment with those people.
Their father, Robert Kardashian a successful businessman and lawyer who was friends with OJ Simpson and worked as part of his legal team. Then after he died, his widow (and the girls' mother) married Olympian Kaitlyn (then Bruce) Jenner. Everything else you wrote is true and I also don't understand why them, but they at least had a tenuous connection to fame before all this madness started.
I am astounded by the number of people who took time to leave negative comments and low ratings on a quiz about a subject they hate. I can't imagine letting celebrities have such an impact on my feelings, oof. What miserable people y'all must be. (And before someone comes at me, I am neutral about the Kardashians.)
It takes like 45 seconds to leave a comment. And people are rightly disappointed that a group of terrible people with no discernible skills (excluding their spouses) became billionaires by glamorizing the shallowest, most materialistic, and most selfish aspects of our culture. I have a hard time understanding how someone could be "neutral" about that, much less why they would rag on other people for being disappointed in the effect this family has had on our culture. I'll add finally that a big part of what I love about this site is that it's very un-internet to me. No intrusive ads. No gossip. Comment discussions are mostly informed and civil. It's disappointing to see this family creep into the one corner of the internet where I thought I could avoid them. I'm probably not the only one who feels that way.
It's not like they're infecting us with their crass materialism and turning us all to the dark side of everything that's wrong with celebrity and capitalism just by having a quiz about them here. We have other quizzes on topics ranging from the subjectively (or even objectively) meaningless (Name all the Avengers! Pokémon! champion!) to the abjectly evil (List those famous serial killers! Identify those dictators!) and nobody's saying those quizzes are defiling the site or its community morale.
Quizzes like this one are all in good fun, and I appreciate every well-made quiz even if I couldn't care less about the topic! I think that's the more overarching vibe of the site rather than knowledge snobbery, don't you think?
I mean, I don't think it's the end of the world that this quiz exists. It's not like it ruined my day. It's fine. I just prefer to not be reminded of these people. I was more annoyed by the commenter's suggestion that leaving a negative comment about this family is a ridiculous thing to do. It's understandable that this quiz exists because this family is very famous. It's also understandable that people hate this family, because they're awful.
Therein lies the issue. If the dissent was left at the family, it would be one thing, but actively hating a quiz about the topic is very petty. I've been vocal about this on pop culture and video game quizzes but there are a select few self-proclaimed high-brow individuals who love to hate anything the younger generation is influenced by or has an interest in. I despise the Kardashians, I think they're one of the most damaging families to ever exist and I will proudly say so but to hate on a quiz is ridiculous.
Besides, it's never good to be ignorant about anything, and that's a key factor a lot of these people miss. How can you hate the Kardashians without knowing why?
I put in Pudgy Face, Big Behind, Wears too Much Makeup and Probably Stinks to High Heaven and none of those were accepted. Same for No Talent and Has Never Done Anything Worthwhile.
I am ashamed to admit I got 100% on this quiz – again! – and no, I have never, ever watched any of their stupid shows. It's just that if you try to read any entertainment news at all online – even movie reviews – you wind up coming across most of them. Heaven help us all.
And today the question was definitively answered: I am not, in fact, keeping up with the Kardashians.
(I literally didn't realize until the answers were revealed that the Jenners were part of the Kardashian family. And couldn't recognize them from their photos in either case.)
Fun Fact: You may have expected this quiz to be the lowest rated English language featured quiz on the site, but among all featured languages, there are actually eight quizzes with a lower rating. The lowest rated featured quiz in all of JetPunk is a Portuguese quiz with only a 1.77 rating.
-No one
0/268435456 is a fraction.
Me- I know far too much about the Kardashians. I am ashamed of myself.
"This beats or equals 34.3% of test takers"
Me- Ok I feel a bit better

The last thing I want when I'm watching Jeopardy is for a celebrity or entertainment category to come up, lol.
I was hoping to get a lot less.
Zero should get you 5 points here.
Bruce Jenner's the only athlete here and I already know him.
This isn't Parler.
Be like Mike.
That'd be like not taking Elton John, Snoop Dogg or Katy Perry.

But just out of curiosity*, why no Rob?
* Someone's curiosity. Certainly not mine! 😉
