You may want to specify Iceman from Top Gun and not from the X-Men movies.

Does 'jedi' count as a profession?

Nov 3, 2014
I think so, though you could argue it's a bit iffy to include jedi if wizard doesn't count for Dumbledore. Obi Wan was also a general.

Good question. If it does how do they earn money to live on? Never wondered about that before

@Ian1979 Lots of professions don't come with a salary. A jedi has his room and board paid for by the Jedi Council and/or the Republic, much like monks and clergy from many religions.

@ Ian1979 I'm sure it's easy to pickpocket with the force.

Seconding the Iceman thing, Top Gun isn't culturally relevent anymore, so the clue should either be more specific or accept answers to cover both.

Top Gun will ALWAYS be culturally relevant. First thing I thought of.

Do the X-men even have jobs? I thought that they just mooched around the school all the time and left to fight Magneto every once in a while. Top Gun's Iceman, on the other hand, definitely had a job.

A lot of the younger X-Men (including Iceman, at least in the movies) are students. A lot of the older/more experienced ones are teachers at Xavier's school.

And, while superhero would certainly be acceptable for the X-man Bobby Drake/Iceman, he also attended college for accounting, and worked briefly as a CPA. Several of the X-men have had professions, including Beast as a biochemist/geneticist and Angel as a CEO.

Typed baseball pitcher for Crash Davis and it didn't take it. (Maybe he was a catcher.) But it should have autocompleted after baseball, you'd think.

I think that while detective should be accepted for Sherlock Holmes, the official answer displayed should be 'consulting detective' as if you read the original books and other versions he always describes himself as a consultant. The difference is he is not payed for his work which makes him a consultant not a detective. I know I am being picky but I am a perfectionist in such matters.

I enjoyed the way International Man of Mystery was accepted for Austin Powers. Disappointed voice actor wasn't accepted for Mrs Doubtfire - Robin Williams plays Daniel Hillman who dresses up as Mrs Doubtfire, and he is a voice actor, also packer (you pack 'em, you ship 'em), but a man in drag minding his own kids while deceiving his ex-wife is not a nanny.
