From Wikipedia: "Conquest of the Middle East and Central Asia by Alexander the Great firmly consolidated the influence of Hellenistic culture. The Greeks founded new cities in the area of modern-day Jordan, including Umm Qays, Jerash and Amman."
In Tashkent, Tajikistan, we visited a museum of culture and history, and the entire lower level is devoted to Alexander. Apparently, they felt it was an honor having being conquered by him.
Apparently, the poet Ivan Gundulić considered Alexander the Great to be a Serb, and he was not alone. https://historum.com/threads/alexander-the-great-and-his-perception-among-slavs.133274/
It's hard to say which is why I only included countries that he conquered 25% of. And if you read the rest of the comments you'll see why I added Cyprus.
Armenia on the map was conquered, but th ecurrent territory of Armenia doesn't stretch that far south anymore. How history (read:wars and conquests) changes maps...
pakistan is one of the best countries i have ever visited, i dont know why people degrade its beauty and safety. i travelled around the country for 2 months and it was perfectly safe.
this is the first quiz that i had no idea about the answers yet scored 100%. loved it, and judging by the comments not having a clue really helped me guess the potentially ones like kuwait and cyprus :) i definitely tried bulgaria and italy... several times each though lol
No Jordan or India? For India, I know he failed, but didn't he conquer some of India? As for Jordan, I think he got it from Persia after being the ruler of Persia.
Nope - he actually didn't even reach India. Historically, "India" also comprised of Pakistan, and that's the part of "India" he reached/briefly conquered. Even the name "India" comes from the Indus river, which mainly runs through Pakistan.
Honestly, even though we Pakistanis know we are tied so close to India, we are sick of people saying, "oh you're just like Indians, right?" like bruh, India and Pakistan have as much in common as the UK and US have.
I guess if the UK and the US were bordering each other as Pakistan and India are, many people would probably make the same comment about them. Or let's say there wouldn't be such a misunderstanding if Pakistan and India were separated by an ocean.

Though I would consider living 9 of these places and it's not one of them.
